Stephanie ran through the house and then heard a knock on the door. She wondered who it was then her mother peeked inside. She grabbed Stephanie by the arm and said.
“Time for school!”
Stephanie resisted the urge to fight back. But, the second her mom walked out the door she slammed it and ran to her room.
“Oh, Steph!” her mother said in a playful voice.



Chapter one

After getting to school, she kissed her mom goodbye and walked into the building.
Her first period was ELA. She loved this class because she could express herself in writing.
Her life has been problematic since her dad passed away. So, she has lots to write about like what her dad's voice sounded like.
Or her dog, Rose.

She always has something to write about. Mila sat next to her. And got out her homework.
Mrs finnikin started class and told some boys to close their Chromebooks. She talked about the new unit. It was where you have to write about your home life. For Stephanie this was easy.
So she started brainstorming. After she thought about what to write class was over.

She hoisted herself up her blond hair swinging around. she grimaced at peter. Then her ocean blue eyes were fixed on Mila. they walked to their next periods and that particular day flew by.

She went to the bike racks to meet Mila and go home. She saw Mila walking with a boy named andy. Mila saw Stephanie and raced over her brown messy hair raining down on her shoulders.

“Steph!” she shouted, “we’re  gonna be late!” 

“for what?” Steph asked.

“Swim practice!” Mila panted.


“Oh…”
