About Mrs. Elliot
Click the microphone to hear Mrs. Elliot read the pages!
This is my sixth year teaching music. I studied Music Education at the University of Washington. Go Huskies! My husband and I live in SLC, but we’re both from the West Coast. Mr. Elliot plays trombone in the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera. I love going to his concerts. I also LOVE yummy food, traveling, puzzles, and of course watching tv and movies.

As my student, I hope for you that our music classroom is a safe place to try new things, work hard, and grow. I try to provide something for everyone to enjoy in music. More than just building musical skills and knowledge, I want you to find your own voice, be excited to learn, and appreciate art of all kinds.

Let's have a rockin' year!
Love,
Mrs. Elliot
Mr. Elliot, my sister Amy, and I liked hiking Donut Falls!

My silly brothers: Christian and Connor!
What's New?
Check out the COVID page. The district is still going through updates, but please see my plans for our music class.
Hopefully everyone had a chance to enjoy the End of Year Music videos I sent out last spring.

Feedback from you: Some families were concerned that their child was not included. This is a setting that families choose on Skyward. Check out the last page for more details on how to check your setting on Skyward.
My exciting summer news is that I am expecting a baby girl this January!
Classroom Expectations
Before you begin going to rotations, your classroom teacher will bring you to music class and we will go over what is expected. Here is a preview:
Three Class Rules:
1. Come in quietly.
2. Do your BEST with a GOOD attitude.
3. Leave quietly.
Special Person:
Each week, one child per class will be randomly selected to be the Special Person. This child will get to sit in a comfortable chair and watch the class. They will give a grade for the class' behavior that day, which will help the class earn rewards in music and positive/negative consequences in their general classroom.
Mrs. Elliot & Mrs. Poteki - Special Person this week!
Curriculum Highlights
I can't wait to start learning with you! Here are some things you can expect from our class over your time at Antelope Canyon:
K-2nd Grade and ASC
3rd Grade
Building music performance skills: develop healthy singing, steady beat keeping, and developing artful expression and identification skills. Sing, dance, listen, play, create music!
Build on K-2 skills by "traveling the world" and learning songs from many continents.
4th Grade
Basic music reading skills and performance on a simple instrument. Learn about Utah History through music study!
5th Grade
6th Grade
US History program, including beginning ukulele.
A bit of everything from years before taken to a much deeper level, including a fun "Thriller" performance in October.
COVID-19 & Needed Supplies
Your safety is my number one priority, so we will have to be creative, patient, and flexible at school. To keep us safe, equipment in music class will be wiped down between uses and classes. Students should be sanitizing before and after music class. I am excited to begin singing more consistently in class this year.
Donate
All music supplies will be provided, but if you are interested in supporting the music department, valuable supplies you can donate would be:

- Tissues
- Hand Sanitizer
- Dum Dums candy and chocolate candies for rewards
Notice: The items on this list will be used during the regular school day. They may be brought from home on a voluntary basis, otherwise, they will be furnished by the school.
