How to Care For Your Chromebook By: Mrs. Nally's Class 2023

Have you ever lost your computer? Well then you know how annoying it is. First of all you need it for school then you wont have it and miss out on something fun. Secondly you wont have your computer for a test thats on the computer but because you lost your computer which means you can't do it so you're gonna have to do it During recess or some time later. The solution is to keep your computer in 1 or 2 places that you can remember.

Keep the computer in a safe spot in your house that YOU can remember

Then you should try to sign out and sign back in. And then you should try to get rid of all of your tabs on the computer.

A great idea is to first ask a friend who is good at tech, then ask a teacher or the Librarian.

First turn off the computer. If that dosen't  work then restart the computer. 

That should lead you to this Then, you just press sign in with google!

Food and Drinks Should not be Next to Computers

If you put a drink next to a computer you could spill your drink and cause an electric shock or the computer may not operate properly.  Also if you are eating next to your computer the Crumbs could get in tiny spaces between computer keys.  

If you have a thermos you can take it off the table or put it away if you are eating put your computer away. When you are done you should wash your hands so your computer does not get dirty.

This is a bad example of dropping a computer. This could break your computer and cost tons of money.

This is the right way to hold a computer.You are  less likely to drop it and that will make it so you don't have to pay any money. 

Liquids damage the electronic components of your chromebook causing corrosion. Though your Chromebook is in a protective case, every effort should be made to avoid dropping it. Dropping&nbsp;may cause damage to internal parts or lead to a broken screen or other damage.

However, like most electronics,&nbsp;these devices contain many delicate components and are susceptible to damage. When Chromebooks are handled carelessly or roughly, the result could be anything from a small scratch to a shattered screen.

 The first step to printing on a Chromebook is to find the print button. (shortcut= ctrl + p)

 If the tab says "VCS virtual q" then you are ready to print, however, if the tab says "save as pdf" then press the button. Press the see more button, and then you should see VCS virtual Q and press that. 

One of many problems with computers is not knowing how to properly use a computer case. Using a computer case can help protect your computer when you're walking so it doesn't slip out of your hand and fall to the ground, it also helps hold it better. If you don't use a computer case and spill water on your computer it can get damaged, using a computer case will help. When you use a computer case make sure it's fully closed. You should also put your name on your computer case just in case you lose it.

My chromebook is not working, what do I do?

How Many Chromebooks are broken each year? This year 94 computers have been broken in V.I.S

How many Chromebooks are at V.I.S? There are 920 Chromebooks at V.I.S.

How Many screens are shattered each year? This year 12 Chromebook screens have been SHATTERED

How much does each Chromebook cost? Each computer at V.I.S costs $300 That's $276,000 this year!

VIS gives all children a computer case. Put your computer in your case every time you need to bring it somewhere so you don't have to worry about dropping it, spilling on it, or messing it up. 

There has been a repeated problem in VIS because some children carelessly hold their Chromebooks, leading to broken computers.

In school, we should always hold our computers with two hands close to us or in our case so we don't break them. Having your computer open doing something while walking isn't a good idea either because you could get distracted, bump into someone and drop it

You should NEVER put your chromebook and your water in the same pocket of your bag. If water spills on your computer it could get in between the keys and ruin it. You should get a good school computer case so even if it does get wet it will either, get wet, but not enough to break, or the outside will get wet, and the inside will stay dry.

Make sure to put a name tag on your chargers because  if you don't could lose it. Also your charger could end up being someone else's because they could use it thinking it is theirs and keep it or it could also be unplugged. Another thing that could happen is, if there are more than two kids in your class with no names on there chargers you may accidentally take theirs! Make sure to do these to have a charged computer!

If you don't know where your computer is ask if anyone has seen it lately!

This is a example of what you should do. Your bag should be zipped with the computer in it, and your water on a side pocket

When You Find Games That You Have to click the space bar rapidly/a lot it could break your computer because you could be BANGING AND BANGING on the space bar which could glitch or lag your computer.

If you drop your computer it is a good chance it could break.  Now if you do break your computer then your family will be paying for a new one.  Computers cost a lot of money to replace.  Also be careful how you hold the computer because if you drop it you can drop it on your toe.  If you don't want to break your computer hold it with two hands.  Computers cost around $200 and that's a lot of money.  Computers might be fun but they are also very fragile.  I really hope we take better care of computers soon.

If your computer is not working turn it off before going to a grown up. Because it might just be that your computer is malfunctioning. 

If you turn it off and it starts working then there you are. problem solved!

If you  turn it off and it still isn't working  try plugging it in it in it might be close to dead. 

After you charge it and its still not turning on you can go to the librarian.

The purpose of your computers is not for your personal use, it is for educational purposes. Some things that are good to use the computers for are IXL, reading, and assignments. Some things you shouldn't use your computers is for games, and YouTube.

Food and drinks next to computers is bad and it can ruin computers. A computer can copy work, and write things for us. If a computer gets ruined it could be a really bad situation. If you want food then move your computer to the side then it wont get ruined.

. Opened computers can lead to damage if they fall on the floor . You can get pushed and drop your computer . If you have your computer out in the open it could get damaged by rain at dismissal . High chance you will trip because you're looking at the screen instead of where your going

Be careful with the screens,&nbsp;they are fragile and will break easily. You cannot put any pressure on them. Never toss or throw your Chromebook, not even onto your bed. Never place it on the ground or stack books on top of it.

&nbsp;Chromebooks should never be shoved or wedged into a book bag as this may break the screen. Do not expose your Chromebook to extreme temperature or direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Extreme heat or cold may cause damage to the laptop.

Though your Chromebook is in a protective case, every effort should be made to avoid dropping it. Dropping may cause damage to internal parts or lead to a broken screen or other damage. • Keep your Chromebook away from the edges of tables and desks. • If walking away from your desk, make sure you close the chromebook lid.

Chromebooks are fragile and get easily damaged on impact. Dropping your Chromebook may result in damage and displacement of the internal panels.

Make sure your charger is close to you when you are charging your computer.

The best time to charge your computer is at night.

If you can't put your computer next to your charger put it somewhere where nobody can walk on it to prevent damages.

There is a problem with leaving computers on heaters. You should not leave your computer on your classroom heater because it can make your computer hot then it won't turn on when it overheats it can cause a lot of damage.  This happened to me once when I left my ipad on a heater, it would not work.

If you don't focus on walking, you could trip and fall. And you can damage your  chrome book from the rain. If you end up falling and getting hurt, you will prabally not be happy. Or if your chrome book gets damaged from the rain and snow you will also not be happy. So when you are walking around the loop, or just outside, just  keep your chrome book closed safe in you back pack. And focus on where your walking. Then when you get to your bus, sitting down, then you can open your chrome book. 

Keep your computer in your backpack at ALL times while outdoors

When exiting the building make sure your computer is shut. If not you could get shoved, drop it, then break it. If the weather is bad like snow, or rain, the computer could get severely damaged. So make sure your computer is shut while exiting the building
