How has the geography of the West shaped who we are?

Humans interact with nature in one of three ways, we adapt to it, modify  it or we depend it. For example if we get to a place with a colder climate we would eventually adapt to handle the cold, or we could modify it and make houses with heating and wear really warm clothes. People modify the land to make it better for their housing and stores,

The 211 Seymour bus and any other busses connect t geography through movement and region. The different bus routes connect to region and place because of the set stops and the bus always goes on the same route 

The bus route is mainly used to get to schools and back home and for connections at phibbs. A bus route was needed after North Vancouver was increasing in population and more people needed ways to get around 

Transportation to school is vital for my everyday routine of getting to school and going to different skate parks 

This is Jimmy, I know him because he also does basketball acedemy. I dont know him through elemtary schools we are just pretty similar and basketball made it easy to connect with him

Transportation is a theme of lions gate bridge. It was the first bridge in bc and was and is vital  for commuters, transportation of goods and the rise of Vancouver (through human environment interaction)

Lions gate bridge was made for the because of the amount of people commuting to work and back everyday, even though there already was a bridge it was small and kept getting hit by boats and people needed to be able to get to work on time. The idea for having a second bridge was started in the 1890s but it needed to go through many people: from the citizens to politicians to stake holders and higher government officials. Queen Elizabeth approved the bridge to be built in 1937 and it was finished 1939 for a total cost of $5,873,837.17..

Without the two bridges the traffic to go over would be very bad, but with it split between bridges it is much better. My favourite memory from this bridge is biking from deep cove, across the bridge, past Stanley park and stopping at a cafe downtown and having some really good apple pie

Food and grocery delivery is a from of movement.

It is a popular way for people that dont have easy transportation or aren’t capable of making it to the store

Transportation is an important part of this world. We need to get to places and we need different ways to do that. Some people dont have cars or prefer to use busses to get to school and the busses in Vancouver are quite reliable. Without easy transportation, getting to school and other places would be quite different

People make stores to make gathering food more efficient and accessible to all people, at Safeway in the morning there is a time when only elderly are allowed to shop so it is more accessible 3. Your own connection to the geographical place the photo represents My mom gets groceries at Safeway and i get snacks there sometimes, it has the best prices in that area and the most selection so it makes sense to shop there

Place is a description of what the land is made of and the different characteristics, for example mountains, temperature and différant natural resources. It also include human characteristics, how and where people live and their culture

here are two ways to use location as a Geographer, absolute and relative. Absolute location is a street address or coordinates. Relative location is used more often for example my relative location is near deep cove

What is Geography through one or more of the Five Themes of Geography Meat the butcher is a the only meat shop in the parkgate area so it is often where people will go to get meat, its location is usually described as vernicular 2. What made and makes the West by how this photograph represents the physical environment influencing the nature of political, social, and economic change the West Meat the butcher is a shop in parkgate that my friend Lucas’s parents own. Sometime after basketball academy with lucas his mom will offer us some pepperoni or bison sticks for a very nice snack. Meat the butcher is more ethically sourced and higher quality meat . People that are vegetarian and vegan might approve of meat the butcher more because of the quality and how it is more ethically sourced. 3. Your own connection to the geographical place the photo represents My connection to meat the butcher is through Lucas. His family has owned the shop for around 5 years and last year basketball his parents gave me a ride most days to basketball and occasionally his mom made us lunch, it was always so delicious.

Regions can be formal functional and vernacular. If a regions is formal it is described by borders and boundaries by the government, a functional region is a region that is attached to a function like pizza delivery zones

The movement that deep cove harbour provides to other places like twin island, raccoon and other places makes deepcove a tourist attraction and so there is deep cove kayak that people interacted with the environment to create and maintain

I have many freinds that live in deep cove and during the summers we will spend lots of time swimming in the ocean and spending time at the beach and walks around the area. My favourite thing to do in deep cove is too watch the sun rise  

Deep cove is impacted and has buisnesses because people like the views and the area. businesses and facilities have been made to attract tourists and for people to move here because of the beauty. Deep cove has been changed because of the economics of tourism. In the 1900s it was a summer cabin vacation hotspot seen as a place for the wealthy, and it kept growing.

My name is Bobby and I’m in plp. I enjoy a bunch of different things, I love school and being with freinds 

Human environment interaction and movement would be the themes of geography that happened when making the town. Metal and other building materials would have to be transported to Banff from other towns and the roads had to be built foot by foot to connect through

The government made a town in Banff that is accessible and has all the things that people passing by would need, like gas stations stores and restaurants. They have these things so people will stop by and buy things

Last summer I went on a road trip with my dad and made some good memories. We went for 5 days to lake Louise and back. We stopped in many places but one of the final stops was Banff 

My connection to this skate park is strong because it is the local park at parkgate. I spent most of my time here in the summer with lots of different friends  and the community center is a nice place to be near

Parkgate skate park is in the vernacular region of parkgate and it relate through human environment interaction because of the creation of a community centre and mall 

The government, stakeholders community managers and citizens modified the land to make a  skate park and a community centres to make the west and to make a community where people could continue accessing aspects of nature and fitness (hikes, mountain biking the gym etc) and aspects of the city in the same area (skate parks libraries and stores
