Electric energy from waste
We can generate electricity by burning solid waste found in the landfills. A community should have a waste-to-energy facility to incinerate garbage and transform chemical energy to thermal energy. Garbage is used as energy because the generation of waste is a problem that society must face. Both citizens and industries generate waste every day, and the destination of most of it is the landfills. Electricity is one of the most used forms of energy in human life, since it provides help and well-being. Electric energy is a renewable energy source that is obtained through the movement of electrical charges that occurs inside conductive materials.
Main purpose
Our main purpose is to obtain energy from trash so we can help the environment and the planet more, and we can have a better place to live because a lot of this trash goes directly to the ocean and kills a lot of animals.
.
Background
What we’re trying  to explain in this project is how the transformation of trash into electric energy works and our main purpose is to obtain energy from waste so we can help the planet more. Therefore, we made our own machine, and that’s what we’re going to explain now.
In the flow chart, we show that the first step is that we deposit the waste in a place that is specifically for that, and in that place what they do with the waste is that they collect all the waste and they go to machines so they can start with the process. What happens in the machines is that the trash is processed, then, it is heated and finally, the trash is converted in electricity. This process has fermentation, combustion and decomposition. In the fermentation process, the sugar in the waste is converted to carbon dioxide and alcohol, in the same general process that is used to make wine. In combustion is where heat produced by burning waste produces steam, driving a turbine to generate electricity. In decomposition is where plastic is heated in the absence of oxygen, and gasification, where air or steam heats the waste creating gases that either produce petrol or diesel, or are burned to generate electricity. So that’s basically what happens and what we explained in the flow chart.
