Hatfield Marine Science Center Visitors Center

There is a tsunami machine at the visitors centre because that area is a tsunami prone zone. The visitors centre is just trying to educate people on the damage the tsunami could make. The want to people to know about tsunamis so they can be ready for them.

The animal I’m excited to see is the bald eagle. The reason I’m excited to see the bald eagle is because it’s my favourite animal. I have seen them before but it’s much more exciting to see them in America because the bald eagle is America’s national bird.

You couldn’t bring rocks home because they are national park property. This means it belongs to the USA and you can’t bring it home. Also it’s such a popular park if everyone who went there took a rock there would be no rocks left.

I did the northwest trek park is important because it Teaches people about nature and wildlife. Lots of people don’t necessarily get exposed to wildlife and nature. It teaches people about how to respect and live with wildlife and nature. Not only that but it teaches people to be interested in wildlife and nature. I think most people there are passionate about the animals and the message that goes into northwest trek. This inspires them to do their jobs with passion. People there really just want to spread the love and interest they have in the animals. Northwest trek is really just all about teaching people and making people interested in the animals. Mostly so it’s just about spreading the love of the animals and nature that we coexist with

Hatfield Marine Science Center Speedy Science

The criteria my group used for the experiment was does the gender of a crab affect it’s speed.   We found out that male crabs went faster, but only because they caught on to what was happening quicker.

Tillamook Cheese Factory and Izzy’s Buffet

Tillimook was founded where it was because of the land. The valley where the factory is built is super fertile . It’s the perfect place to raise cattle. It’s also a good area for farms in general. the location means that plenty of farms cluster around tillimook.

This is a time lapse I took of crossing the border to Oregon. I thought it was a good video because it shows me entering a brand new state. It also shows me going over one of the longest bridges I’ve ever been on.

Depoe Bay is known as the smallest navigatable harbor. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Japan.

I learned that the whales we saw were grey whales that were coming up from Hawaii after mating and having their young, also that they were going to continue their journey all the way up to Alaska before coming back down.

Columbia River Maritime Museum Crossing the Bar Section

I would be fairly willing to cross the bar. Although I think it would be scary I would be very happy once I crossed it. If I were to cross the bar, I would definitely want someone on the boat who was skilled at boating. Also I would more willing to cross the bar if I was on a larger boat, if I was on a larger boat I would feel much safer. Overall I would cross the bar but I would want an experienced crew and captain joining me.

Cannon Beach is most well known for  Rock. It is sometimes called the 3rd or 4th largest intertidal rock in the world.

My group solved the R.O.V challenge mostly by trying different ideas. Our start idea was morphed many times into a completely different end product. One of our main challenges was figuring out how to place the engines inside of a small shell. When we started but we wanted to keep the shell as small as possible. we soon found out though that it was impossible to get all of our engine is inside of that shell. We ended up solving that problem by just making the shell a bit bigger then it originally was. Our R.O.V performed reasonably well we did not beat the group we were competing against. However we did manage to pick up several spoons and forks in the competition. If I were to change something about our our Ovi I would change how we positioned the magnet. It was very awkwardly placed which made it nearly impossible to pick things up easily. If I were to change something about the challenge I would make it so each group was allocated a certain amount of parts which all matched, because trying to get parts from the buckets was a nightmare. it also meant there was an unfair distribution of parts between groups.

Activities like these are important to local communities because they are a source of tourism in the area. Tourism in local areas like that especially important. Sometimes those small areas don’t get lots of visitors but big attractions like high life adventures bring more people into the local area which is excellent for local businesses.

The Astoria Column is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a freize that depicts American history.

One of the main things I learned about in Fort Stevens where is the disappearing gun. The Disappearing gun is the gun that’s installed in Fort Stevens. The thing that’s special about the disappearing gun it that it slowly lifts up by turning a crank, and it’s weighted in a certain way so once it’s fired it drops back down and disappears. The disappearing done takes several man to operate end it shells (bullets) can weigh up to 100 pounds depending on the size of the gun.

The first colonists had a big impact on the First Nations, and it wasn’t necessarily good. The first colonists largest impact was in my opinion was on the environment. The First Nations coexisted with the environment very well. The first colonists hunted on the land that the First Nations lived on. They hunted lots of animals that were both important to the First Nations culture and livelihood.
