Hatfield Marine Science Center Speedy Science

My group decided to race crabs with less legs vs. All legs. When we raced 3 crabs with les legs and 3 crabs with all legs we got the average time to get across the ramp and as we predicted the crabs with more legs went faster. 

These people work here because they need to keep the animals feeling safe and secure. If the workers don’t come to look after the animals the will be hungry and they need to preserve all of the animals and maintain the habitats. Also if one of the animals escape they need to be on the watch to find it or not let it escape in the first place. Also the people who work there like taking care of the animals and making sure their comfy. 

I want to see a wolf cause I think they are really cute and I love seeing animals. Also I haven’t seen a wolf since probably grade 2 when I did the grouse grind with my mom. 

Columbia River Maritime Museum Crossing the Bar Section

I think it would be really cool to cross the bar but it would very dangerous and wold take a very long time to cross. I think if I had a chance to cross the bar had all the right gear and training I would because it is a once in a life time thing to do. Many people do not get the chance to cross the bar and if you had a good crew all the safety essentials you have a high chance of getting through to the bar safe with no casualties. If I were to cross the bar I would have to go through probably a year of training and hard work which calls for a lot of determination and effort. If I were to work really hard and do the best I could I would be able to cross the bar and accomplish something very big. I would be very happy to cross the bar when I have gotten training and gear.

Travelling South with a stop at Cabela&apos;s!

I like this video cause we were going across a 7 km bridge. It had a really pretty view of the Columbia River. Also we were on our way to go the Astoria Column which I was excited for. 

Hatfield Marine Science Center Animal Adaptations

Animals adapt to there environment or food sources when they can only get a bit of food or a certain type depending on were they live or how many of the animal there are. If there are too many of the same animal in one area they tend to adapt to either eating different food so they can get more of adapting to a different environment with maybe harder to get food. How animals evolve ex. Humming bird-small, and speedy so they can get though tons of branches with out bumping into something.

I think that things like this are important because if you live in a small town you normally have to drive a while to get to most big attractions. It also keeps you having fun in your small town and with your community. 

You can’t bring the rocks out of yaquina head because it is a national park and we are trying to preserve its resemblance. It is so special cause it was formed by a volcano that erupted in Yellowstone and it has very special volcanic rocks formed by the beach. And they are not just trying to preserve the rocks they also preserve all the sea life and birds. 

Cannon Beach is most well known for ___hay stack_ Rock. It is sometimes called the ___3rd_ largest intertidal rock in the world.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Visitors Center

The Hatfield marine visitor Center has many tsunami simulation stations and they have them because they want people to know how tsunamis work and what they will do. There are many tsunami simulators but most of them you control the wave the one I am talking about has a machine pushing the water towards the LEGO city that you can build. This machine is to teach kids and adults what a tsunami can do, to teach people how it can affect things and what to do when one occurs. 

The Astoria Column is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a painting that depicts the history of Lewis and Clark’s expedition 

I did many sports and tried so many different varieties but I only stuck with one

Today I had flaming beef which is beef served on fire. 

I think the first time my group went out to find the box we worked well together but we did not read all the instructions carefully. When we came back cause our time was up we were unhappy with our work and felt we got distracted and not very far. As soon as we started to read more carefully and look very carefully we completed the course and were very happy with our selves. If we hadn’t worked together and listened to one another we would not have finished successfully and happily. 

Hatfield Marine Science Center R.O.V. Challenge

In this challenge we were supposed to make an R.O.V with some pipes and connectors we had all the materials like motors and tape but we had to design and build it. The first thing my group did was draw a design of the boat in sketches pro on my IPad. Then we started to build the boat we had some trouble finding the right size tubes to make the boat the right size, weight, and shape. After many tries and many different sizes of the square we attached the motors and the magnet to pick thing up from the bottom of the tank. We put it in water and started driving it around the tank picking up things with the magnet. 

Tillamook Cheese Factory and Izzy’s Buffet

It was founded hear because it is really wet and wet ground helps the grass get green which allows more cows to live and produce more dairy. I they have a lot of cows then they can get more dairy faster than other companies that do not have as many cows and don’t produce as much dairy. 

Columbia River Maritime Museum First Nations Section

When the first peoples first settled in this area they started all the foundations and buildings to support families. They started traditions and found ways to eat and survive cold winters. They made hunting tools and tools to build things and figured out how to live an amazing life while working hard to support others. They helped start up all the villages and communities. If they did not colonize here we would be very behind time because they started the simple tools and ways to eat. 

Today while at fort Stevens I learned that they had many guns and cannons that they used. There were 2 cannons that were really dangerous they had to shut down. When they shut them down they had to put a concrete cover overtop because the Japanese might bomb it. The Japanese also would not know that it is not in operation. They also had to shut down the cannons cause every time they lowered it back into the room all the soldiers had to move to a save place so they wouldn’t suffocate in all the smoke from the cannons. 

Hatfield Marine Science Center Assemble a Whale

We all had to get our own bones the first thing we did was the spine we all got one Spence and sorted it by size the we put it together. After that was al sorted we did the rib cage but before we did that we went out side to see a fully built skeleton of a wale. We finished the rib cage and got the shoulder blades to put in place and then finally we put the breast bone were it is supposed to be. After it was finished My class and I put all the bones back to their original spot and mixed them up for the next class. 

Something about me is I love drawing and animals these are things I have loved for my whole life and have never stoped loving. I have two pets one dog and one cat that I love and they are very cute. One of my favourite things to do is go swimming in the ocean and look at all the sea creatures.

Depoe Bay is known as the smallest navigatable harbor. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Oregon.
