sending device: initiates an instruction to transmit data, instructions, or information
communications device: Any hardware that can send and receive data, instructions, and information: helps the computer
communications channel: mediums through which you can send a message to its intended audience
receiving device: accepts transmission of data, instructions etc.
network: group of two or more devices or nodes that can communicate: to go back and forth working together
LAN: Local Area Network
WLAN: Wireless Local Area Network
WAN: Wide Area Network
MAN: Metropolitan Area Network
path: use to locate needed executables from the command line or terminal window
IP address: is a unique numerical identifier for every device or network that connects to the internet
protocol: an established set of rules that determine how data is transmitted between different devices in the same network
internet protocol: a protocol, or set of rules, for routing and addressing packets of data so that they can travel across networks and arrive at the correct destination
