End of Year Reports As always, you will receive a written report about your child's attainment and progress at the end of the school year - you will receive this in the week beginning 10th July. Before then, you will have had an opportunity to come into school to have a look at your child's work from the current year.

Parent / Carer Consultations As you may know, we used to hold in-school consultation evenings over two specific nights in the autumn and spring terms. During COVID restrictions, these moved to telephone conversations or virtual meetings. Once these restrictions were lifted, we continued with phone calls and video meetings as many parents / carers liked the flexibility of these. However, some preferred the more traditional way of discussing their child's work. Whilst we will not please everybody, we do want to take parent / carer views on board going forward and so will be undertaking a survey to find our your views. We break up for the summer half term holiday on Friday 26th May. Please note that school is closed on Monday 5th June as this is a professional development day.

Our Sports Day is on Friday 23rd June this year. Reception, Years 1, 2 and 3 will be on Abbey field in the morning and Years 4, 5 and 6 will begin arriving on the field around 12:15pm.

Look out for information about a course for parents / carers run 1 day per week x4 around family first aid - starts 8th June.

Parents and carers you are invited into school between 3:15 and 5:00pm on Monday 12th June to see your child's work. Feel free to have your child with you to talk about what they are learning and are proud of.

We are again involved in the Carnival on Saturday 24th June so please come along and support.

Our Year 6 pupils set off for their 2 night / 3 day residential visit on Friday 16th June.

If you have a child starting school at Reid Street in September, please attend one of the two Induction Events on either the morning of Monday 26th or Tuesday 27th June.

Our fabulous cast of performers will be showcasing their talents and hard work on the evening of Wednesday 21st June.

Year 6 pupils have a chance to visit their secondary schools schools for two transition days on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th June.

Key Dates for the Summer Term

On Sunday 7th May, our dancers will be involved in the Mass Dance Festival in the Market Square from 1:45pm. Come and support.

Military WAGS Choir and guests with Darlington Rotary Male Choir

Our award winning choir will be joining two others for an evening raising money for a good cause on Friday 19th May at 7pm. Click on the link for more information about how to get tickets.

Children can wear red, white and blue to school on Friday 5th May.

Year 4 will entertain and enlighten their parents and carers with an assembly all about the Vikings on Wednesday 24th May at 9:15am.

Remember that we have an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May for the Coronation.

Year 6 SATs week - Tuesday 9th May to Friday 12th May It is vital that all Year 6 pupils attend for the whole week. Due to the additional bank holiday, tests will continue until Friday lunchtime this year.

The photographer will be in school on Monday 22nd May to take all individual photographs.

They will then return on Thursday 25th May with the rig to take the Year 6 Leavers' photograph only.

Enjoy Darlington

Our amazing choir will yet again be performing at the Proms in the Park event so come along and enjoy on Sunday 2nd July.

We will be supporting the NHS 75th birthday events with our own sponsored 1,000 miles during the week beginning 3rd July.

We will be holding an end of year celebration event on the KS2 yard on the morning of Wednesday 19th July so save the date.

In the long held tradition, Year 6 pupils will perform a Leavers' Assembly for their parents / carers on the evening of Thursday 13th July.

School closes for summer on Thursday 20th July at 3:15pm.

Thank you to all who were able to attend our recent 'memory gathering' event. It was lovely to see so many and to hear lots of fascinating memories about the school and the local area.

The summer term is always a busy one with much going on in and out of school.

We are currently working on a project gathering all of the memories we captured together to look to create a permanent collection we can share. If you were not able to attend the event, you can still share your memoires in lots of different ways. Please have a look at the book on our website - this is also linked here.

Memories

This book will be regularly updated as more information is available. Please also make sure that you check Class Dojo messages as much key information will be shared through those. Many opportunities that may be of interest are sent through to us and we share these via emails so again check those regularly. Although it is still quite cool weather, we are hoping for some summer sun soon so when that arrives please remember to send your child into school with sun cream already applied and a hat.
