As you may be aware, our amazing building was built in 1912, which means that there has been a school on this site for 110 years!

Linked with our work around memory and empathy through understanding of others, we would like to take this opportunity to gather the memories of our community.

Often, whilst we are out at events, members of the public will tell us that they, or a relative, attended Reid Street and there is often a lovely story also.

We want to capture these memories, keep them for future generations and share them.
So, on Monday 24th April we are opening our doors to current and past parents and carers, ex pupils and others who have memories of the school and/or local area to share with us.

Current parents and carers - you are invited into school between 2:45pm and 3:15pm to share your memories with us. You can then pick your child(ren) up from school.

For those who do not have children currently at Reid Street, you can come along between 3:45pm and 5:30pm to share your memories.

There will be refreshments available, entertainment provided by our talented children and a raffle in aid of the school, Guide Dogs and Dementia Friends.
On the 24th there will be different ways you can share your memories:

you can bring along something you have already written.
you can come along and write your memory down - we will have sheets and pens available.
we can write your memories for you.
you can record your memories as audio.
you can record your memories on camera.

There will be a display in the hall of photographs and articles for you to have a look at. If you have any photographs we can have a copy of, please bring them along.
We are aware that not everybody will be able to make it on the 24th - we would still like to have your memories.

You can:

Send your memories of the school and / or local area into school with your child(ren) if they currently attend Reid Street.

Drop your written memories off at the office.

Send your memories in by post to: Reid Street Primary (Memories), Reid Street, Darlington, DL3 6EX.

email your memories to: memories@reidstreet.darlington.sch.uk
Calling all Past Pupils

We like to inspire our pupils to achieve their dreams and are always fascinated to hear what our pupils go on to do in their futures once they have left us.

We are collecting examples of our Alumni - pupils who have gone on to a wide variety of different jobs, roles, employment and careers via many routes including straight into work, via apprenticeships, to college and university and so on.

If you are, or know, an ex Reid Street pupil - however long ago that was - we would love to have a photograph and description of what you / they went on to do for our Alumni display.

You can send this in using the same methods as for the memories or come along to our event on the 24th April.
