A collection of free verse poems beautifully written by the year 6 children at Zaytouna Primary School.

Thank you for reading our very special collection of poems all about refugees and the journey they go on to seek asylum. We have been inspired by many of the non-fiction texts we have read as well as our shared reading text, ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class,’ by Onjali Rauf and the palindrome poem, ‘Refugees,’ by Brian Bilston. All children have produced the poems that feature in our eBook. They have worked incredibly hard to understand the considerable effort and trauma that refugees go though to find safety, and they have shown so much compassion throughout.  Well done Year 6!
