Alexander Graham Bell had two brothers. Melville James Bell (1845–1870) and Edward Charles Bell (1848–1867). They both died of a lung disease named tuberculosis. Melville James Bell was his younger brother.Edward Charles Bell was his older brother. His mom was almost deaf. She used a ear tube. He also sadly died of diabetes.

In 1880, the French Government gave Bell the Volta Prize of 50,000 francs which was worth about $10,000 at the time because of his invention, the telephone. Bell put this money to good use, setting up the Volta Laboratory in Washington. $10,000 was A LOT more money then. Also when he died the telephone system was shut down for one whole minute!
