The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The book is set in 1920, an era marked by the changes made in both culture and lifestyle (the 20’s was known as the jazz era). The themes in the book reflected and scrutinized the societal influences in this time period, the characters represented the different classes, behavior, customs and ethics of the time, moreover, it shows the dichotomy between two classes, the rich and the poor, in which both are chasing the “American dream” (the promise of wealth and prosperity as long as you work for it), for instance, Jay Gatsby, one of the books most essential characters, is a self-made man as well as a dreamer whose ambition will lead him to achieve status and luxury.&nbsp;&nbsp; Additionally, there is plenty of symbolism in the Great Gatsby; namely, the Valley of ashes. It represents the dissociation between the poor and the rich along with the moral and social decay as a result of the ambition and greed of the characters for the pursuit of wealth. The rich view themselves as upper class while the poor try to live one day at a time hoping one day they will be rewarded.

The Great Gatsby is a story about the American Dream, first published in 1925. The protagonist of this narrative is Jay Gatsby, a wealthy young man. Many characters in the book have dreams for their lives. Their goal, however, is not achieved, and they eventually become disillusioned. Nick, the book's narrator, introduces the story. Nick is a straightforward individual who is well-versed in the novel's events. However, some individuals believe Nick describes this story as a stranger looking from afar. No, we don't think so for a single second. When Gatsby died, he was the only person who sympathized with him. Furthermore, his mood fluctuates with the story's progress, indicating that he is not just the narrator but also the protagonist. Every plot revolves just around Gatsby and Daisy, the protagonists. Their personalities emerge as the story progresses. Gatsby was born into a wealthy family and appeared polite and confident. Daisy aspired to be rich and enjoyed spending money. Gatsby was, in truth, a tragic figure. He lacked self-assurance. We believe his self-assurance stemmed from his wealth. He would not have the confidence to pursue Daisy if he were penniless. Daisy desired a stable existence. She liked Gatsby, but she realized he couldn't give her what she

Nick is our favourite character in the novel since he was the only one that got Gatsby. Gatsby is highly depressing to us. In the end, he received nothing. He was even murdered. When I read about Gatsby watching Daisy's house, we feel despair because we can sense his loneliness. He couldn't get Daisy despite having a lot of money and looks. He could only look at Daisy's house and miss her. All and all, this book taught us critically valuable. There is one thing about Gatsby. On the surface, he appears to be intelligent. He is, nonetheless, a lonely individual. People sometimes look down on wealthy men. They are unaware that the rich have their troubles. As a result, when we see that kind of situation, we strongly suggest that the underlying meaning rather than its appearance.
