What I love about working with technology

-Accessing the online SET BC training and lesson plans were great -Our bin storage worked well -If you don&apos;t have Apple TV, get a Dongle (VGA to Lightening Adapter) ASAP; you will love the ease of use in projecting anything you have on your iPad or for project &quot;show and tell&quot; time -Monthly conference calls were an awkward format (when you can&apos;t see each other) but they were great to hear about what others were doing -Blogging may have seemed like an additional, unnecessary demand but was so helpful when looking back and reflecting on the year -In the beginning, when we were overwhelmed by all the apps, our best advice was to pick an app at a time to focus on - make the lesson super easy, so it&apos;s the app they explore and aren&apos;t challenged by the task of the lesson (SET BC has great Explain Everything lesson plans) -AirDrop was our best friend! Teach the kids to use it from the start; it makes everything so much easier - Bonuses: the students loved iMovie and learning photography for the Best Part of Me book and using the apps were a real motivation for oral French!!

Hello, I&apos;m Kiri and I have been teaching for almost 20 years, most recently at the Grade 4 and 5 level. I have taught in Burnaby, Switzerland, India and the Comox Valley. I believe creating strong and caring relationships first and foremost with my students- by getting to know them; their strengths and stretches. I love taking my class on overnight cross country ski and snowshoeing trips up Mount Washington. I attended the Shelley Moore series of workshops: Transforming Inclusive Education and am inspired to apply these new ideas to my everyday teaching.

Hello, my name is Julia. I am a learning support teacher for intermediate students and I love working with technology as it gives me the opportunity to address our students&apos; diverse needs and find success in many areas of learning. I have been working on UDL projects for many years, I have attended all the workshops that Shelley Moore presented in our district and I was thrilled when the opportunity to work on the SET BC Synergy Project presented itself. I have been collaborating with Kiri, with great success, over the years and the choice for a classroom teacher was extremely easy for me. It was an incredible learning adventure for everyone involved!

Hello, welcome to our learning journey! It&apos;s full of many peaks and valleys. Grab your comfiest hiking shoes, a water bottle and a snack, maybe even some hiking poles and come along!

- Next year, we will introduce the students to Google Interland/Digital Citizenship first -before using the iPads - We will be working more on oral language projects (especially in French), as it is so motivating for students while working on their competency skills as well -We definitely want to use more iWord Q app and Read and Write extension from Google -Using one main iPad to air drop projects to would be helpful when collating all projects at the end - Exploring ways to use the apps with numeracy would be a wonderful addition - We will involve the Teacher Librarian more in collaborating on lessons, accessing her skills and expertise - Being more familiar with the apps and the accessibility tools for iPads, we will jump right in sooner

The Synergy project had its many successes and challenges. Time was always our biggest challenge: time to get the iPads up and running, learning some of the apps, getting familiar with accessibility tools, fitting it in with the demands of two Language Arts curricula, finding meaningful French language activities, time to read the other teachers&apos; posts on their blogs.... And I could go on...

-First of all, a classroom teacher cannot do it alone; the support of another teacher (in this case, LST) is very helpful -10 iPads is generous but a hard number in a class of 29. Groups of 3 can be a challenge; especially with something as &quot;hands on&quot; as an iPad -iPads need individual updating/individual app installing which can be a challenge -It would be ideal to have the iPads available at all times, but I was worried about unsupervised abuse and theft (our class is closest to an exterior, unlocked door) so it meant the iPads were locked up when we weren&apos;t using them. Maybe a little paranoid, but we&apos;ve had thefts from that class before

We started the school year discussing this quote with our class and what it means to us. It was a great launch for the Synergy French Literacy project for iPads as it is what we believe and what we hoped this project would bring to life. The title of our project is Differentiation for Inclusion. This project worked with the theme, "Identity: What Makes You-You?". We integrated technology and assistive technology using apps such as Book Creator, Pictello, Explain Everything, Word Reference, ChatterPix, iMovie, the built-in camera app and MS Office Read and Write. The aim was for students to gain an appreciation of the writing process as well as the variety of ways, tools and technologies they can use to explore, communicate and represent their ideas and themselves.
