Thank you for all of your generous support with our 'Nansloe School Garden Crowdfunder' campaign. Phase one of our plan has now been actioned and we've been able to install a shed for our outdoor learning provision. We are all really impressed with this space, which doubles as an outdoor classroom, that benefits from stunning views all around the Nansloe Estate!&nbsp;

We wouldn't have been able to purchase this without everyone's support and kind donations towards our Crowdfunder.&nbsp; Thank you to everyone who donated and helped to share and spread the word. We are excited to move onto phase two of our campaign, which means building our wonderful garden design!

Throughout October, the nursery children have been learning all about Autumn. We have been learning about how farmers harvest their crops, leaves falling and changing colour and hibernating animals.&nbsp; We had lots of fun exploring pumpkins and making pumpkin pie in the mud kitchen,&nbsp; making colourful pictures using our fingertips, making our very own hibernating hedgehogs and going on lots of Autumn walks to find lots of Autumn treasures to investigate with magnifying glasses.

We would like to thank everyone who took part in our survey at Parents' Evening. This has given the PTA ideas on how to change and make it more accessible for every parent. The general feedback showed that most people would like an evening meeting or contact via email. This is something that we are going to be putting into place. We are going to have a disco at the end of November (date to be confirmed) to raise funds for a theatre performance in December for the children. Last year's performance was a huge success and the children thoroughly enjoyed the show which was a real treat at the end of term. The Christmas Fayre is also fast approaching and we will be holding a 'Nansloe Christmas Shop' like last year. All the children enjoyed picking a gift for a loved one and wrapping them in school. If you have any spare items at home that you would be happy to donate please send them in with your child to be added to the shop. Each child will receive their golden ticket to exchange for a trip to the shop. Along with donations for the shop, we will be looking for raffle prizes and help with the fayre on the day. Next week is 'UK Parliament Week' and the children will be learning about our government and what happens in Parliament. To kick start the week, MP Derek Thomas is visiting us to meet with our newly appointed School Council and to answer their questions about local issues and about life as an MP. He will then be joining the whole school for an assembly about his role locally and at a national level. Later in the week, our eldest School Council representatives are going to County Hall in Truro to take part in a live debate and to learn more about local issues and policies. We can't wait to hear all about it!

Reporting Absences If your child is going to be absent from school due to illness, then please inform the office before 9am in the morning, and let us know your child's symptoms and when you expect them to return. Dear Parents/Carers, October went by in a flash. I hope you all had a great half term break! Thank you for your support with our harvest celebrations and for your generous donations. We received some lovely letters of thanks from members of our local community who were delighted with their gifts. Please have a look carefully at this month's newsletter to find out more about upcoming events scheduled for November. We have Parliament Week next week, followed by Anti-Bullying Week and Children in Need. All of this ties in with our Learning Power Theme of 'Building Relationships'. In school, we are focusing on the power of kindness and the impact that small gestures of kindness can have. Thank you for attending our parent consultation evenings just before half term. If you were unable to make an appointment and you still wish to, please don't hesitate to speak with class teachers who will be happy to make a time with you. As a school, we always take part in Anti Bullying Week, to raise awareness of bullying and to support children to speak out and have a voice. This year's Anti Bullying Week theme is, 'Make a noise about bullying!' and is taking place across the week beginning Monday 13th November. To kick start the week, we're inviting children to wear odd socks to school (alongside their usual school uniform) to help start conversations about being unique and valuing difference. Monday 13th is also 'World Kindness Day' which links in well with our half-termly Learning Power Focus of 'Building Relationships'. During the week, children will take part in assemblies and lessons to help them better understand what bullying is and, even more importantly, what they can do about it.

Effective and regular communication between home and school is really important and is something we really value as a school. We want to make sure we are working with you to support your children in the best way possible. Thank you to all those parents who came to our recent parent consultation evenings to talk with class teachers. I know teachers really value your time and input. If you need to speak with a member of school staff, teachers are usually available at drop off and pick up. It may be that you need a longer discussion or that you want to talk without your child present. If this is the case, please phone or email the school office via hello@nansloe.org.uk. This is then forwarded onto the relevant member of staff who will make contact with you. There may be occasions when the school office is unmanned for short periods of time. In this instance, please do leave a message as these are checked regularly throughout the day. Moving forward, if you call the office and have to leave an answer phone message, a member of staff will contact you to let you know the message has been received. Please, never hesitate to come and speak with any of us on the school gate, sometimes a quick conversation can help answer a question before problems occur. If in doubt, please always ask.

It was brilliant to see so many children attend Helston Community College for cross country. We had runners enter from every class and you all ran really well. There was such team spirit from Nansloe with our older children cheering on our youngest representatives, for some of these children it was their first time experiencing such an event. We would like to see as many KS2 children taking part in the third cross country race at Mullion Comprehensive School on Tuesday 7th November at 4pm. This will help continue Nansloe's strong start to the season. Should you have any difficulties please contact the school office.

Attendance Matters We are working really hard to improve attendance at Nansloe. If children are going to achieve their full potential, then it's vital that they're in school. Absence can accumulate really quickly and even one or two days off every few weeks soon adds up to children missing a large proportion of learning time. Any child whose attendance falls below 90% will be issued with a letter and asked to make an appointment with their child's class teacher to discuss barriers to attendance. We know that at this time of year coughs and colds are everywhere, but we would encourage you to send your children in and if they deteriorate during the day, we will of course call you and send them home. In cases of sickness, diarrhoea or high temperatures then we would ask that you keep them off for 48 hours. Thank you for your support with this.

We love hearing about the children's achievements outside of school and know that we have a vast array of talent within our school community. Please help us celebrate this with your children by sharing this information with us. We always make time in Monday's Learning Assembly to talk about learning that takes place outside of school. It would be lovely to see any certificates, medals, badges, awards etc. that children have received or to hear about new skills or experiences children have had. This week we heard from Mr Rapson who completed the Lighthouse Marathon during half term. This is a gruelling marathon on the cliff path from Pendeen to Godrevy, made even more challenging by the awful weather conditions on the day! Well done Mr Rapson! We were also treated to an excellent rendition of, 'This Old Man' by a member of Rinsey Class. We all really enjoyed hearing about his new musical skills and he was very proud to play in front of the school. Thank you and well done!
