We have started our year in football with a team of Year 5 and 6 pupils taking part in a tournament at Helston Community College. They played over two weeks with the first being the first time they had ever played together. They showed brilliant team spirit and worked well as a team. They won one match, drew one and lost one. With some brilliant saves by our goal keeper. The second week consisted of a couple of hard matches where the team worked well and again showed their Nansloe spirit and kept playing their best. This week they drew one match and lost one. We can not wait to see this team progress as the season takes place and they play more together.

This term we have been enjoying using the new mud kitchen area, making potions and mud pies with year 2. Year 3 enjoyed creating their kites to fly in last week's windy weather.&nbsp; We have also been building dens and 'hobbit houses' out of natural materials only, including lots of cooking outdoors on the campfire and using the hammock and the swing under the canopy of our tall pine trees!&nbsp;

We welcome all the Parents and children back after the summer holidays. All of the PTA hope everyone had a good holiday and managed to enjoy the weather when we could. We would like to start this year off as we mean to go on! A big thank you to everyone who supported us last year, this enabled FONS to contribute towards the school's Elemental Trip which all the children looked like they had a brilliant time. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Naval Children's Charity for fully funding our brand new, bespoke Sensory Room. This is a huge asset for us at Nansloe and is already being used daily by individuals, groups and whole classes. This really wouldn't have been possible without their generous donation and we are beyond grateful.

Reporting Absences If your child is going to be absent from school due to illness, then please inform the office before 9am in the morning, and let us know your child's symptoms and when you expect them to return. You may either phone the office on 01326 572966 and leave a message or alternatively send an email to hello@nansloe.org.uk When reporting an absence, please leave a message on each day of your child's absence, telling us: - Your child's name -&nbsp;Class name/Year group - Why they are absent (Type of illness e.g sickness, migraine) - When you expect them to return

We have revamped our library space this summer to make sure it's an inviting space to help promote a love of reading!  Our library is for children across the whole school to enjoy and access.  Please encourage your children to read at home and to change their books in school.  Reading is so important to future learning!

Dear Parents/Carers, Welcome to our first newsletter of the new school year and what a start it's been! The children (and staff) loved their water sports at Swanpool with Elemental. It was great to see so many children push themselves out of their comfort zones and get stuck into the day. Clubs are back up and running, outdoor learning sessions are in full swing and new learning is taking place. We've had a big revamp of some of our school spaces over the Summer and we're really excited to share with you our new sensory room. This was funded by a very generous donation from the Naval Children's Charity (please read on to see some photos). Our library has also had a complete overhaul and we have introduced a new reading system to support children in choosing books at the appropriate level for them. Finally, we are really looking to increase our capacity within school for trips, special events and in class activities. One of the ways we can do this is with volunteers. If you would be interested in volunteering within the school, in any capacity, please come and speak with me. Perhaps you would like to hear readers for an hour a week or you would like to help with art lessons. The scope is endless and we're keen to hear what you might be able to offer. Currently at playtime in the Infants we have Playleaders from Year 6 who visit daily to support with playing fun games and encouraging positive relationships. We were hoping to provide the children with some alternative games and toys to help encourage turn taking and collaborative play.&nbsp; If you have any dolls, dinosaurs, building blocks, toy cars, tractors, train tracks or small world play (farm, castles, car garage) that could do with a new home, we would really appreciate these donations. The cross country season started off with a very big bang! The first race was held at Porthleven Primary School which we were pleased to see some first time runners taking part. Our Year 3/4 girls brought home a 1st and 5th one of which was her first ever race, massive well done! The Year 3/4 boys then took to the start line finishing with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th. What an incredible start for Nansloe and for the boys that participated. Up next were 5/6 girls both who completed their races with big smiles and feeling proud of themselves as it was their first race. Again a massive well done! Finally the Year 5/6 boys finished the event finishing in 1st and 9th. We had a new runner in this group as well. We very much look forward to the next race at Helston Community College on Tuesday 3rd October which is for both KS1 and KS2. Attendance Matters We are working really hard to improve attendance at Nansloe. If children are going to achieve their full potential, then it's vital that they're in school. Absence can accumulate really quickly and even one or two days off every few weeks soon adds up to children missing a large proportion of learning time. Any child whose attendance falls below 90% will be issued with a letter and asked to make an appointment with their child's class teacher to discuss barriers to attendance. We know that at this time of year coughs and colds are everywhere, but we would encourage you to send your children in and if they deteriorate during the day, we will of course call you and send them home. In cases of sickness, diarrhoea or high temperatures then we would ask that you keep them off for 48 hours. Thank you for your support with this.

Parent Pay Please remember to add funds to your child's Parent Pay account and clear any incurred debt. You will receive a weekly email reminder when the account goes over. Wraparound Care A polite reminder that you need to pre-book your child into wraparound care via email to the school office. Uniform Update In advance of you purchasing and updating your uniform for the new term, we wanted to share our updated uniform requirements with you. You may notice a change to the requirement for 'school shoes'. We are now asking for either black school shoes or black trainers. The key requirement is that they are all black (no white trim, white/colourful logos etc.) please. There is also no requirement for you to purchase jumpers/cardigans with the school logo but should you wish to, the staff of Whirlwind Sports are on hand in their Helston store to help you with your uniform orders, or if preferred please visit their online shop:

With the start of another year comes changes in MKC Heroes, which is an after school club run by Mrs Hockley and Miss Osborne for children whose parents are in the military. This gives the children a space to talk and gain additional support when there loved ones are deployed. This is done by games, talking and range of activities. This year Mrs Hockley and Miss Osborne are hoping to arrange some trips up to the base, some visitors to do talks for the children, making hot chocolate and taking part in some fundraising.
