Loon Lake Learning Advance 

Script: Over our 4 day learning advance at loon lake I can confidently say I have drastically grown as a learner, communicator and leader. I had the opportunity to take initiative during battle archery, laser tag (show picture) or even just inviting people too sit at our table during meals (show pictures). I can say that I witness a lot of person growth. I am more responsible, reliable and confident putting myself to bed on time, Turing off my screen and just reading, and waking up on time for breakfast

During future feild study opportunities I hope to have as much fun as I had at loon lake, I hope we get another chance to play laser tag. Although I would never acually admit it, I did enjoy going to loon lake wiht the grade 8’s, even though some of them are annoying than others I still made some new friends and I hope someday in the future we can go on another trip all together :)

Loon Lake Learning advance Feb 14 - 17 2022

This evening, I was playing basketball in the gym during evening fun and howler I was playing mid game, Erik head butted me in the face (BY ACCIDENT!) and I got a bloody nose. Tbh it wasn’t even that bad. The pain was fine I just felt a little disoriented and dizzy for a second but that’s it, i was really embarrassed because well i ended up crying in fort of a bunch of grade 8-9- boys 🙈

⬆️   One place I found amazingly beautiful so far at Loon Lake is well, loon lake because when there isn’t a whole bunch fo 14 year old boys bounding on the dock its very calm and dearly quiet  and nice and peaceful 

Today some of the grade 9’s took the rope ferry across the lake and got taught; the rule of 3 (3 minutes without air, 3 hours without shelter in extreme weather, and 3 days without water), the three types of shelter (a-frame, lean-to and tee-pee) and where the ideal &amp; safe location of a survival shelter (high, dry and flat ground and no overhead danger) Now I more confident for when\if I ever get lost or deserted in a forest etc.

My overall loon lake learning advance experience 

I had amazing opportunity to go to loon lake from February 14-17 with both my class (PLP 9) and the grade 8’s. And of course Mrs. Willemse and Mr/ Huges, unfortunately Mrs. Maxwell couldn’t make it out there wiht us due to whatever was going on in her personal life. Overall Those last 4 days I’ve had the most fun I’ve had in a while; we had amazing, very filly and always exciting meals, always got to start and end the night right with our advisory groups and through the day we spent the day doing amazing, interactive and brain working activities like; alter tag, battle archery, Destination imagination, working on our “7 habits book” and just goofing off and taking advantage of our time away from school. To conclude my review of my loon lake learning advance I truly had a blast and I am really looking forward to our next field study !

End of the book. End of the trip.

Today we did BATTEL ARCHERY!! It was one he🏒🏒 of an experience that’s for sure! We were given to opportunity  to show off our; team work, leadership  and our archery skills (some people had more skill when it came to archery than others ;). It was so much fun! We had a chance to shoot peers, friends and even teachers !!

unfortunately our DI group only had one day to complete anything on our advance because literally half of our DI group has to leave half way through our advance because they didn’t feel 💯% But on a postive note ,during the two and a half session we did have we manged to get a sense of our strengths as a group by running through a couple improve skits, we drew festivals from a hat, asked random class mates for; possibel “forks in the road” and for possibel goals and then we went at it and out each team mat in different positions every run through to see where they would work best.

Today we had the amazing opportunity to play real, hardcore laser tag and really fun and competitive battle archery. Earlier that morning we were put into groups, for this activity grade 8’s and grade 9’s were mixed which I think made the experience a lot more entertaining because then we could do grade 8’s v.s. Grade 9’s. Which we did ended doing during laser tag and battle archery. During these exciting activities I learned alot; about how the laser guns worked and how to shoot a bow and arrow at people (I’m used to shooting at stationary targets) and I also learned that inés is surprisingly amazing at laser tag. Overall I had a really good time and I think other than the really smelly face masks we had to were during battle archery we all had a blast!

I want to learn how to play outdoor team leader tag, although I know how to play laser tag I have never played laser tag with a team 

I hope to connect/ be in nature becaseu it connects me to my family/past and just gives me a time to relax . 

Hi, I’m Hannah Sturm. I am 15 years old, grew up in Vancouver British Columbia and I have two younger siblings names; Pippa and Lars, and I really (really) need to wokr on my spelling I like to; paint/sketch/mixed media art, to play fast pitch(softball) and I enjoy proving my basketball skill to boys in my class (eg. page 10) and I get a laugh out of beating people in anything really, i’m very competitive. I am also extremely clumsy. I always find myself; walking into walls, getting hit in the head with basketballs/soccer balls/etc, walking into sighs or tree branches and/or tripping on my own feet ;)

⬅️On our first day at loon lake we got to take the “rope ferry”. I had to pull the rope all the way across the water and by the end of the trip across I couldn’t feel my hands they were so cold

Me, Dana, and Ben got the change to make a “survival shelter” our of trees we found aorund th forest, we couldn’t rlly sleep in there yet becaseu we were alllowed to use things like moss and leave etc. so in the end we had a soil “foundation
