Arizona/Nevada Field Study 2023

Today we had a chill start with 8 o’clock breakfast and then once breakfast was over. We drove all the way in to Valley of fire State Park. It was beautiful it has these huge big red rocks everywhere. We went on one hike which required a little bit of off trail tracking but it was beautiful and it felt like we were rocking around a Apple background image. After the hike we stopped for lunch, and then we had a little picnic and then we headed to just take a glance at the elephant rock. Personally, I didn’t really see the elephant in it but whatever. After that, we drove to the all you can eat buffet, it was Hawaiian themed and it was really good. They had fruits like dragon, fruit and passion, fruit, and a lot of fish and a very loaded dessert section. After that, we sprinted (well drove) to catch the last glimpse of the Marius volcano before we headed into the Beatles, love by circus du Soleil. The Beatles show was crazy! I knew all the songs and sing along Word for Word the whole entire time it was like a weird fever dream but I had the funnest time ever, then we made it home just in time

Thanks again to my parents for paying for this trip, the tour guides that made my photo essay better by providing sources and evidence and of course both my teachers (Mr.Hughes and Ms.Mcwilliam) for tagging along with us and showing us all these incredible places and giving us all these amazing expenses and opportunities 

Decided to the teachers and parents that made it happen! Another exciting PLP adventure 

Today was a travel day. We arrived at YVR at 3:30 just to make sure we had enough time to get through security and all that. We ended up having a lot of “lounge time” so I bought Tim Hortons for the road. Our flight to Seattle ended up getting delayed a bit but after a bit we were on ur way. We made it to Seattle eventually… pretty smooth flight. Short and sweet. Once we landed in Seattle we had to literally sprint to our gate to get on our flight to Tucson. We were literally the LAST people on the plane. But we made it and after 3 ish hours we were in Tucson. In the end we got our rental vans and sorted into cars (me, Max L., Max R., faith, sepaus and Cole AKA “the TikTok Rizz party bus”) and made it to the hotel at around 12:00 

So we’ll be flying into Tucson, AZ on the night of April 18th and spending the next 10 days driving up to Las Vegas, NV. Visiting some special places/museums and staying in hotels along the way in; Sedona, Tusayan and of course, Las Vegas. In the end we will be flying out for Las Vegas on April 28th 

Today is our last day, was overall pretty chill. We woke up bright and early and made sure everything was packed up. After breakfast we head over top the Bellagio, inside this time and wondered around the mall. We also expanded to the miracle mile shops. Me, sepaus, max and faith walked around. For a while, grabbed lunch on our way and I got a shirt. After our meal experience, we headed to the airport. And we did all the normal airport stuff and we were in the air! On the plane me and Max finished the Florida project and stared watching the interview, we did have enough time to finish it but we needed up Lansing at around 6:00 pm, the cold was quite a shock indeed

First date of the trip!!! Stared bright and early at 7:15 after that 12 o’clock night time, it was delightful. Our first stop for the morning was the Titan Missile silo. we had the opportunity to have a tour of the whole missile silo and hear about what a 24 hour shift as a worker was like. Personally, I had a lot of fun. After we were done we went for lunch at a Mexican place. I had a super burrito it was delicious. After lunch we headed to the Asarco mineral discovery Centre, we got a whole tour and we got to see big trucks. It was really cool and we got to keep a little Momento after the mineral museum we went on a hike and that was an adventure… originally we thought we were going to go on an hour and a half hike but it turned out to be three and a half hours and much more distance than we thought. On our hike we interacted with many difference forms of wildlife; we saw a rattlesnake. (almost died.)two Gilla monsters and a lot of cactus interactions. In the end, everybody came out in one piece and after the hike we went to Sweet tomato. It’s a Buffet. As good as you would expect.

Overall this trip was amazing, it went/stared a lot smoother then our first field study (Disneyland) and I think in the end I walked out of this trip with a lot from new knowledge then went we were done with out Disneyland field study. I have it four and a half stars, this trip would’ve been a full five stars but the only thing that made it go down by a half is the fact that most of my friends went on the previous (New Mexico) field study, but this gave me a wonderful opportunity to get a lot closer with some other people in my class <br/>(Faith, max L. And sepaus) I loved the amount of hiking we did, it was a lot for fun and gave me lots of time to really embrace the environment and get to know other people. It was overall a very good balance between learning (the missile silo, many museum, exhibitions) and fun stuff (hikes, malls, the Beatles show). Also the food was amazing. I cant wait to go on our next trip!! 

Today we woke up and obviously started with breakfast, and then we drove to the MohaveMuseum. Inside the museum we learned about the Mohave people and about Mojave county after you’re done with the museum we headed to the route 66 museum. That was very token tourist destination type thing, but we learned a lot about the immigrants that went to California. After the two museums we had a quick picnic, and then we did a couple hours of driving. In that drive me and Max watch the movie. And then we arrived at the Hoover dam at the Hoover dam we did a guided tour, saw the turbines and walked into Nevada. After the Hoover damn, we did a little bit more driving to the Golden corral for dinner. Just another all you can eat buffet. After dinner, we drove to the neon museum. It was really nice because by the time we arrived there, it was dark. We saw all the old Restorator signs, and then we saw this special projector neon light show. Soundtrack was fire then we drove into Las Vegas, but and then we spent an hour checking out Fairmont Street. Boy was that an experience.

Today started at 7:15 as usual. Nothing that we’re not used to, waffles for breakfast. After breakfast, we were off to the Arizona Sonora desert museum in the museum. There was a lot of cool animals, but we saw most of them already yesterday on our big hike. We learned a lot about saguaro cactuses, and saw some otters that felt very out of place. After the museum we headed to In-N-Out Burger. Personally, I thought it was pretty overrated but don’t tell Mr.Huges. After lunch, we went to the Pima air and space Museum.  We spent hours there looking at a lot of planes and I met this lovely lady named Eileen. After my feet were store and my blisters were coming into my feet we went to lins grand buffet for dinner. It was pretty good. I got a lot of variety, and after dinner, we went to the pistols, wild West show. It was in the small old westerns town village place, and we walked in on a prom! It was really cool. The western show was a lot of stunt work with fire. Then we went home, and in the rivers party bus, we had a literal rave. Once we arrive to the hotel, we went to the pool and someone gave Colton and cold water guns

Today we woke up at the usual time and had a good breakfast. After breakfast, we headed to the national atomic testing museum. Once we got there, we heard from this military guy about radiation detectors, and they’re set up all around the United States to check the air for radiation because people don’t trust the government.  After that we went and spent three hours checking out the atomic museum. We got a lot of useful information and I got a lot of sources and evidence supporting my driving question answer. After the atomic museum we headed to Chick-fil-A. Love Chick-fil-A. After that we headed to the Las Vegas sign. We did have to wait a little bit in line for the sign but once we got there we got a couple of cute pictures, and then we went to the sphere, it was absolutely bamboozling. First we walked into the sphere and we had this AI experience. I, you could ask these robots a question and they would answer it and talk to you as if it was a human being. It was crazy. I asked a robot how they would re-design the modern car to make it more environmentally friendly, and it was really cool. And then we went into the sphere part of the sphere. In the sphere we watched a movie called postcards from Earth. It is a 50 minute film directed by Darren Aronofsky. Watching that film on the sphere was absolutely breathtaking and to experience that for the first time again, I would pay anything. After this fear, we headed to the forum shops for dinner. Me, Max, suppose and Faith all sat together and had cheesecake factory (CCF). After dinner, we all headed to the fountains of Bellagio. Me supposed, and Max got to live out our oceans 11 dream and it was amazing. We heard some Bruno Mars and some Lady Gaga and it was just a banger all around… At the very beginning someone proposed that was fun. I have never seen anybody propose before.

Stared the day with a usual 6:30 wake up call. But this time we had to get all packed up because we were leaving our first hotel and heading to Sedona. We stared our eventful day with an hour of driving all the way to “Biosphere 2”. It was absolute breathtaking, defitinly my favourite place we’ve visited so far. We had an audio guided tour that show us through all the rooms and different “environments”. After spreading a couple hours there we had a lovely picnic before we left for another hour long drive to the Casa Grande ruins, national Monument. It was a lot on the indigenous people of Arizona. Overall, that was very interesting. We just watched a 25 minute long video on the context of casa grande and its history and how it’s connected to the present day. After that we drove to the organ stop Pizza restaurant it was an interesting experience. It was this pizza place but as you were eating, there was this organ player playing songs All night long. He played I’m still standing by Elton John and under the sea from Ariel there was a lot of variety. After we were done the pizza, we drove for one more hour to the rock Springs Café, where we all split a mixed berry pie, it was delicious after that, we drove to our hotel.

Today was crazy. We started this morning at 4:15 AM. What a lovely wake up call. We woke up. I had a quick breakfast and then drove to the Grand Canyon. This was my first time at the Grand Canyon and it was absolutely breathtaking. It’s so big you can’t even retain and mentally comprehend it size. It looks like a green screen. We arrived at the Grand Canyon around 445 and spent an hour watching the sunrise. Once the sun had completely rose, we went on a hike. We did the south Kaibab Trail to Cedar Ridge. It was a pretty quick downhill, but a very treacherous steep uphill after. Personally, I thought it was like work and I cruised up and down once we arrived back at the top of the canyon. We went to Maswik food court and me, Claire, Sepaus, Faith and Max L. Split two pizzas. After you’re done with lunch, we did a little bit of touristing and then we did the trail of time where we walked from the food court back to our car, while walking through all the generations of rocks in the Grand Canyon. On our way. We also went to a geology museum, where we got to learn even more about rocks! Then we proceeded to drive for hours to dinner. During the car ride me chef house and Max watched a movie. We arrived at dinner at around 7 o’clock. We ate at the dambar steakhouse. it was good not horrible and I was really hungry so it hit the spot then we went and checked into our hotel and I had a lovely shower.

Today was a pretty chill day. We got to sleep in and had breakfast at 8:30. After that, we headed to the fashion show mall. In the fashion show mall we did some shopping, got some lunch and then headed to the Wynn, hotel and shopping centre to do the scavenger hunt where we wondered around aimlessly in a casino looking for one stupid pond. We were separated into groups, and it was me Max, sepaus and faith. after we were done our scavenger hunting, we headed over to the undercover mansion. The undercover mansion was absolutely insane. We did this to her where this lady just showed us around all the rooms and the pool and the funky details in the mirror all they have all around the underground mansion, but overall it was absolutely insane. After the underground mansion, we went to raising canes! I’ve never been there. It was pretty good. The chicken was really tender, and I have mixed feelings on the sauce. Then we headed to meow Wolf… Mind blowing.

Today we stared earlier than usual with a 6:00 AM wake up call, and a 6:30 breakfast. (They had an amazing oatmeal topping selection) we had to be all packed up and we were on the road by 7:00. We drove out the Baynton Canyon trail (aka the subway tunnel) we arrived there at 8:00 and returned at (shockingly) 12:00. It was a long haul but beautiful. It was very busy at the subway tunnel but we all took our turns being instagram models and having “our moment”. After the long hike we had a couple hours for our feet to rest. During that time we stopped for; a picnic, ice cream at the black cow and the chapel of the holy cross. Once we returned from the church we were off to another hike. It was much shorter and relatively flat. We walked around the courthouse butte and bell rock loop for about an hour and a half. By the end of that my feet were hurting!! Added a couple of blisters to the collection.then we drive to  pine country restaurant. It was pretty good.  After that I was ready for bed, but we had one long hour of driving left. In that hour me and max go up to lots of sudoku and hangman. Attached an imax e on the Grand Canyon and spent one short night at the red feather lodge…
