Places I've Lived and "Home"
Toronto, Canada

Kingston, Canada
Shanghai, China
I am Chinese-Canadian and I spent my formative years living in both China and Canada. We moved to Canada when I was five and then returned to China 10 years later because of my dad's work. After completing my bachelor's degree in Canada, I found a job in Cambodia and have been here ever since!

Teaching
When I was young, I thought I wanted to be a teacher because I enjoyed being around kids. But it is more than that.
Thought Bubble
I love the "aha" moment and the spark of excitement when my students love something new.
I pride myself on the strong relationships I build with my students. We respect each other and have a mutual understanding. I know what my students need.
I do more than just teach students the academics. They are cultivating life-long skills in my classroom. I model empathy, good communication, and collaboration.
My Favourite Teacher
Every time an Elvis song comes on, I still think of my third grade teacher, Mrs. Boland. She adored Elvis. We listened to Elvis songs during class. We danced to Elvis during P.E. We even put on an Elvis show for our parents.

Mrs. Boland was my favourite teacher because she made everything special. She cared. She put in extra effort to bring parents into the classroom to teach the class about holidays around the world. She published our poems and bound each book for us by hand. In her class, we sat in different table groups every month and came up with team names and a team chant. It was great. Everything was so memorable.
A Not So Great Teacher
My least favourite teacher was my fourth grade teacher, Ms. Tuchner. To be honest, I don't remember much about her or what I learned in her class. What I do remember is how I felt around her. I felt like I was constantly being dismissed as if my ideas or feelings weren't important.

She did give us a lot of candy. I remember it being her way of rewarding the class for positive behaviour, but I always felt that it was a cop-out for actually getting to know us.
I Love Food!
I love food so much, so it was really challenging to decide which dinnertime meal I would like to eat for the rest of my life. I think if I did have to choose, I would choose to eat sushi. I love salmon sashimi and all the different kinds of sushi rolls, and the soy sauce, wasabi, and... pickled ginger!

Some other favourite meals include dim sum, Turkish breakfast, ramen, and spaghetti vongole.
