The Start of Something New
There was a girl named Naomi Roberts who had to move from her hometown of New York to Maryland. She loved to play lacrosse for her school and with her brother. A week after Naomi moved to Maryland it was time for her to start her first day at her new school.
Naomi was scared to start her first day but thanks to her brother Nash giving her a pep talk she was ready to start her first day. When Naomi arrived at school she was getting nervous again because of the looks she got when walking down the hallway but then she thought about what her brother told her and took a deep breath. Soon it would be time for her first class to start. As Naomi was looking for her first class she bumped into someone who looked like she knew where she was going. "Hi, I'm Naomi" said Naomi. "Hey, nice to meet you Naomi. I'm Olivia, Are you new here?" The girl said. "Yea, I'm trying to find room 128 for the math class." Naomi said. "Oh, I'm headed there to you can come with me." Olivia said.

*bell rings* "Shoot we got to get to class before principal Jackson sees us, follow me I know a short cut." Olivia said. "Uhh ok" Naomi responded. Olivia started running and right behind her Naomi followed. Soon enough they made it to class without being spotted. "How did you know about that shortcut?" Naomi asked. "I've been going to this school since 3rd grade, we're in the 6th grade. You learn a few things after awhile." Olivia responded. "Anyway meet me at the second entrance of the lunch room after class." Olivia added. "ok" Naomi said. *second bell rings* "CLASS DISMISSED" The Math teacher says. "Oh yeah I'm supposed to meet Olivia." Naomi says to herself. Naomi then heads to meet Olivia at the second entrance of the lunchroom when she noticed a lacrosse tryout form on the cork board.

When she saw the tryout sheet it reminded her of her old school and it sent a shock of joy through her. When Naomi was walking toward the lacrosse tryout sheet to sign her name when one of the boys said something that shook Naomi. "Are you really going to sign up for tryouts?" One of the boys said. "Duh, what does it look like I'm doing?" Naomi replied. "Sorry but lacrosse tryouts are only for the boys, we don't want the girls to break a nail or something." The boys said sarcastically. "HEY, leave her alone Leo, girls can play lacrosse too." Olivia said as she stepped toward him. "Honestly their right Leo, girls should be able to play lacrosse too." One of the other boys said. "Oh really, one of my own friends turning against me." Leo said.
"Thank you, both of you. I'm used to it being like my old school where boys and girls were able to play." Naomi said. "No problem" they both respond. "Hey aren't you new here?" The boy says. "Yea, I'm Naomi nice to meet you." Naomi replied. "I'm Dylan, nice to meet you too." He responds. *bell rings* "Well I got to get to class to I guess I'll see you later." Dylan says. "See ya" Naomi replies. "Well it looks like you're already making friends." Olivia says. "Oh be quiet." Naomi says with a laugh. "Come on we are about to be late for class." Olivia said.

"Coming" Naomi said. After class they had a free period, so Naomi, Dylan, and Olivia got to know each other better. Dylan and Olivia even took Naomi on a tour of the school.
A few days past and eventually it became the day of tryouts. On the day of tryouts Leo was acting weird every time he saw Naomi in the hallway. Naomi didn't think anything of it until it became time to gear up for tryouts and Naomi noticed that her lucky lacrosse stick was missing. "WHERE IS MY LACROSSE STICK!" Naomi shouted. "I don't know" Olivia said. "You don't understand, this isn't just any lacrosse stick. That lacrosse stick is the one my dad gave me for my first ever lacrosse game. I NEED TO FIND IT!" Naomi replied in a panic. "I'm sorry but you don't have time tryouts start in 2 minutes." Olivia says with realization. "I know but I can't do tryouts without it." Naomi said. "Yes you can, how about you go do tryouts and I'll stay here and look for it, and when I find it I will bring it to you. Deal?" Olivia says. "Deal" Naomi says in response.
Naomi then heads out to the field where everybody who is trying out is stretching. "Hey, Naomi where's your stick?" Coach Eli asked.
