PRESENTATION
The Guidebook "Metacognitive Strategies" is a compilation of strategies that may be used to develop intrapersonal intelligence and other intelligence as motivation in the teaching-learning process of a foreign language.
This work has been done among teachers and students of Pedagogy of National and International Languages Career at Chimborazo National University as a component of a research project.
The strategies that are presented in this guidebook will be very useful in the teaching process to achieve the students will enhance their knowledge of the anglophone language.

Chapter 1
1- What are the strategies?
Strategy is a plan of actions that fit together to reach a clear destination. That destination is dictated by a set of decisions that sets the organization apart from its competitors, derives from the organization’s unique characteristics, and is hard to emulate. It’s not an annual boardroom exercise. It’s a unique position the organization adopts that concentrates efforts on a single, well-defined direction. Not only does it determine the activities that lead to progress, but also what should be labeled as a distraction. The strategy entails making trade-offs. Trade-offs are based on the diagnosed challenges, the available resources, and the organization’s unique strengths and weaknesses (Alonso,2023).

2- What is Metacognition?
Metacognition refers to "thinking about thinking" and was introduced as a concept by John Flavell, who is generally considered a founding scholar of the field. Flavell said that metacognition is the knowledge you have of your own cognitive processes and your thinking. It is your ability to control your thought processes through various strategies, such as organizing, monitoring, and adapting. In addition, it is your ability to reflect on the tasks or processes you undertake and to select and use the appropriate strategies needed in your cross-cultural interactions (Flavel,1979).
3.-Metacognition in the classroom?
Metacognition (derived from the Greek root word "meta" meaning "beyond" and the Latin word "cognoscere" meaning "getting to know") refers to a student’s ability to be aware of what they are thinking about and choose a helpful thought process. It captures a student’s ability to:
·         Analyze how they think
·         Have high self-awareness and control of their thoughts
·         Choose an appropriate and helpful strategy for the task at hand.
4.-How can teachers use metacognition in the classroom?
4.1.- Use your syllabus as a roadmap
-Look at your syllabus. Your professor probably included a course schedule, reading list, learning objectives, or something similar to give you a sense of how the course is structured.
-How do they connect? What are the key themes that you notice? What prior knowledge do you have that could inform your reading of this new material? You can do this at multiple points throughout the semester, as you gain additional knowledge that you can piece together.
