Dug's Adventures on Arran

I wonder… could you grow something to eat?

Dug learned that Arran has a special area called the Marine Protected Area. This means everyone looks after the sea and the animals and nothing can be taken from the sea.  This is making a big difference!

This school and nursery has a wind turbine to make electricity. 

Dug was interested to learn that water can be used to make electricity. 

Dug waited on the bus in Blackwaterfoot and got to say hello to the driver and all the customers.

Dug liked the free book stall and picked up a couple of books to read.

I wonder if there are any free books that are good for me?

Dug loved looking at the paintings on the bus stop.

The centre has a touch tank and lots of ways to learn about looking after the sea.

I wonder what this wood could be used for? 

Arran has lots of trees and forests and Dug liked hiding in them. The forests are great for animals and we can use the wood to make things.

People on Arran can fill up empty bottles with milk.

This looks like a spaceship. Why is it covered in silver foil?

Dug visited the charity shop in Brodick. People hand in things they no longer want so the shop can sell them.

Dug's Adventures on the Isle of Arran

Dug learned Arran has a special charity that helps people to think about how they can live in a way that helps them to look after the planet.

Dug liked to try different ways to travel about. He liked the paddleboard, cycling to the shop and the ferry.

I wonder how this all got here? What could we do to help?

Dug went to the island called Arran for a holiday. He explored the island finding out how people there are looking after our world.

Can you find Arran on a map? There is an old castle in a place called Lochranza.

Dug was excited to visit the COAST Discovery Centre to find out about the creatures who live in the sea.

Dug loved getting up close to the sheep as they munched on the grass. It made his tummy rumble!

Dug went to the recycling centre in Brodick. People drop off rubbish here. The rubbish is sorted out and put into different buckets. What can you see?

Now I see why they call Arran Scotland in miniature. Thanks for having me to stay.

People on the island grow food in community gardens. Dug was keen to learn more about this.

Dug spotted bike racks and a place to charge electric cars. Have you ever seen an electric charging point before?

Arran has lovely beaches. Dug loved them and he even got to meet other dugs!

Arran has some big hills. The tallest one is called Goatfell. Can you find it? Dug had fun hiding in the ferns.
