Before the Trip
I think that disruption applies to this field school because during this trip we are visiting many different places and attractions that have had an impact of some sort. The Midway has had a massive impact in the world of the army and military. The safari park has had a large impact on many different species that are native to California such as the condor. The animals environment was disrupted and it then became the normal but it was disrupted again for the better. Overall there a few different places that we are visiting that have caused disruption, some for worst and some for the better.
I am looking forward to this part of the trip the most because it is something that I find very interesting. I have always loved animals and zoos are something that I love to visit but not totally agree with. I’m hoping that this will give me a clearer view of what zoos do and how they help the environment and the animals.
Disruption is a change in the natural order of things.
California Day 1
Our first meal of the trip was at an amazing burger place called Hodads
One of the Torrey pines at the state park.
We went to La Jolla cove as one of our first attractions and it was here that I took my favourite photo of the day of the sunset that we saw.
This is a video we made at Torrey Pines State National Park about the the endangered trees and the wildlife that are unique to that area and are found nowhere else in the world.
California Day 2
The most surprising thing to me that I learned during our trip to the safari park was how much the zoos actually do for the wild animals around the world. At the beginning I thought that zoos were just place that imprisoned animals and did very little to help the animals in the wild but after seeing the zoo for myself my opinion completely changed. I found out that a lot of the work that they do is about helping and conserving the animals that are in the wild. One of these examples is the California condor that was extinct in the wild for years but was then brought back into wild and was saved by the San Diego zoo.
This is a photo from the air balloon ride we took at the Safari Park. While we were here we saw tigers, an elephant training session and many other things that had to with animals and animal conservation efforts.
I think that activities like these are important to the zoo because it gives people a chance to have a lot of fun at the park as well learning about all the different animals that are there. It also gives people a chance to see the park from a whole different perspective then you would normally get. Seeing things from above or from the trees lets you get a different view in how the park is layer out and how different the animals can be.
The Safari Park Video Challenge
This is a challenge video that I made with a few other people about some different animals and how they are doing in the wild
