illustrated by pupils in Szkoła Podstawowa nr 11In the village of la Mancha lived Alonso Quijano, known as Don Quixote. He was always reading and sometimes he forgot to eat or sleep. He loved the stories about the great Spanish knights.
He wanted to be a great knight so much he began to believe he really was a hero who would fight for justice and become known as the bravest of all knights, Don Quixote de la Mancha.
He went to his attic and found some old armour, a shield and a lance.
In the stable he found a tired old nag, Rosinante, to be his horse.
When his chubby neighbour Sancho Panza, came by, Don Quixote asked him to be his Squire. Sancho was a simple man and he agreed to go with Don Quixote on his adventures.
