But it was too late as the windmill sails turned round and knocked Don Quixote from Rosinante’s back.

They looked so funny as they rode across the plains of la Mancha and everywhere they went, the people laughed.&nbsp;

As he lay on the ground, he shouted loudly that it was Freston the magician who had done this. He stood up and said he would find Freston and defeat him as his sword was more powerful than Freston’s magic.&nbsp;

When his chubby neighbour Sancho Panza, came by, Don Quixote asked him to be his Squire. Sancho was a simple man and he agreed to go with Don Quixote on his adventures.&nbsp;

As the strange pair continued their adventure Don Quixote decided that if he was a brave knight, then he needed a fair lady. A knight without love was like a tree without leaves.

He wrote a beautiful love letter to her before he set off once again on his adventure with Sancho Panza.

In the stable he found a tired old nag, Rosinante, to be his horse.&nbsp;

When they saw some windmills in the distance, Don Quixote cried out that they were enormous giants.

In the next village he saw a pretty young girl called Dulcinea del Toboso. 

He began to charge with his lance pointed at them. Sancho Panza tried to call that they were only windmills.&nbsp;

In the village of la Mancha lived Alonso Quijano, known as Don Quixote. He was always reading and sometimes he forgot to eat or sleep. He loved the stories about the great Spanish knights.

He wanted to be a great knight so much he began to believe he really was a hero who would fight for justice and become known as the bravest of all knights, Don Quixote de la Mancha.&nbsp;

He went to his attic and found some old armour, a shield and a lance.
