Literacy is not just for ELA classes.

Literacy is the ability to read or write.

Content Area = a domain of knowledge and skill in an academic program.
Examples of content areas include: English (ELA), math, science, social studies, or science.
Why Does it Matter?
Students may struggle with understanding informational texts.

Pivotal Point in reading level = Grade 3

Students will never gain new knowledge if literacy is absent.
