PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Parents and Students,

Swami Vivekananda is the greatest youth icon produced by India and one that influenced millions of youth across the world. In the 21st century, when the youth of India are facing new problems, pushing boundaries and aspiring for a better future, the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda have become even more relevant.  His ideas can be understood by this fourfold mantra to live a meaningful life - Physical, Social, Intellectual and Spiritual quest. The youth need to be stronger both physically and mentally to achieve their goals. They should have 'muscles of iron' and 'nerves of steel'. Stronger physical stamina is achieved through a strict exercise routine and mental strength is achieved by believing in oneself. The social quest involves undertaking activities to mitigate physical suffering. This is achieved by seeing God in every person and serving them. Vivekananda clubbed spiritualism with social service. Raising one's intellectual level, gaining knowledge and spreading and sharing it with society is the objective of the intellectual quest. He emphasised education for all and it should have a life-building, man-making, character-making assimilation of ideas. The transience of triumph and material wealth was central to his philosophy of spiritual quest. He challenged the youth to live for a noble reason, a mighty ideal and a higher state, so that they were able to transcend impermanence.

December was an eventful month for us with Annual Days, Christmas celebrations and many more events.  You can experience the spectacular visual treat as you glide through the pages of Newscast.  The pages are brimming with a swarm of photographs from the celebrations.  The sports and athletic enthusiasts of Assisi brought a lot of Laurels.  Kudos to the Physical Education department for identifying the promising players and nurturing them.  Hearty congratulations to all the prize winners!

BONHOMIE 2022
“Endless memories are created with life-long friends”
The 29th Annual Day Celebration – Bonhomie 2022 at Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School – saluted the beautiful bond of friendship with full vigour and vitality on 3rd December, 2022 at 5:00 pm at the School Auditorium. Very Rev. Msgr. Mathew Elanjimittam, Vicar General, Archdiocese of Verapoly, presided over the function. Dr. Paulose Jacob K, Former Pro – Vice Chancellor, Cochin University of Science and Technology, graced the occasion as the chief guest of the programme. The ceremony embarked on with the lighting of the lamp and prayer song. The Director, Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Baiju Ben offered the welcome address. Ms Suma Paul, Principal, presented the Annual Report – a quick glance through the plethora of events that took place in the academic year 2022-23. The young achievers of the Assisi Merit Scholarship were honoured by Very Rev. Msgr. Mathew Elanjimittam, and Dr. Paulose Jacob. K.
The function was also addressed by the PTA President Dr. Sabu. MC. The vote of thanks was proposed by the School Captain Master Sanjay Sajan. We moved on, to the visual treat filled with a rainbow of captivating entertainment programmes. It was a completely entertaining event that revolved around the theme “Friendship”. The school choir tranquillized our souls with their soothing song. The scintillating welcome dance – “Crème De La Creme”, best of the best, was a real visual delight of grace and elegance. Next, the audience was charmed by the enchanting song Mississippi” sung by the graceful singer – Ms. Avantika Linu. The Malayalam dance “Santhra Souhrudam” was a powerful and alluring performance followed by yet another enchanting song sung by the young singer Master Mohammed Yasin.
The flamboyant little dancers brought out the beauty of hopes and dream creating a treat to the eyes by presenting “Rhapsody of Fire” and this was followed by the energetic vibes exhibited by the music band “Seventeen”. The programme was then taken to the next level with a thought-provoking message of true friendship through a drama “Thanal”. Music that has the power to soothe the disturbed mind and soul was smoothened by the soothing Musical Fiesta offered by the mesmerizing tune of the Piano played by Master Jeffrey Jain. Dance is the true expression of one’s feelings.
This was powerfully sparked by the vibrant and ravishing dancers to all the peppy music numbers of the present generation, named “Boo Radleys” which really electrified the stage and the audience with the rocking performance. Culture and tradition have their own charm and this was retained by the classical music performance. The power of women, her grace and her biggest strength – “Motherhood” was celebrated through the dance performance named “Jeevadayini”. A glimpse of the pandemic time, its struggle and survival were beautifully enacted through a Mime named “Nefertari”. Once again to enchant the aesthetic minds, a musical ecstasy was performed by young Assisi musicians.
