American management guru Stephen R. Covey (1932-2012) is recognised as one of Time Magazine’s 25 most influential Americans for his ground breaking bestseller, 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' which has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. Moreover, 7 Habits was named one of the two most influential books of the 20th century by CEO Magazine.
Stephen Covey’s 7 HABITS
1. Be Proactive: You are responsible for your results. Your life stems from careful design or careless choice. You choose to direct your life, or you choose to be the plaything of circumstance.
2. Begin with the End in Mind: See the finish line before you start. How do you want people to remember you? What result do you want to have at the end of the day?
3. Put First Things First: Choose to do what it takes to reach your finish line regardless of mood or circumstance.
4. Think Win/Win: Whenever it comes to others, ask how you can get what you want while helping them get what they want.
5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Listen before you speak. Get people to clarify their understanding of what you’ve said.

In the pages of the Newscast you can read about the various days of observations conducted in the most befitting manner, the humongous efforts which were taken by the teachers and students to put up spectacular Annual Sports Meets, riveting workshops for the students and teachers, and the runaway success for Assisi by scooping up several prizes in the various Inter School Sports and Cultural Competitions. The Kerala Piravi Day celebrations were marked by heart-warming speeches, traditional folksongs and video presentations on the theme "One language, One race, One culture", that express the glorious Kerala culture and tradition. With the borrowed lines of Vallathol's poem, "Keralam Ennu Kettal Thilakkanam Chora Nerambukalil", the 61st Kerala Piravi Day celebrations came to an end.

With the song “Maa Thuja Salam” playing in the background, the students of class VII E did a visual rendition of the art forms of the different states of India. The class teacher Ms. Deepa Prasad joined them as Mother India and it captured the attention of young minds. Muhammed Abu Asmin of class VII dressed as Sardar Vallabhai Patel stood in the middle as the Statue of Unity. The students and teachers of Class II took part in the Run for Unity and joined the others on stage. The speeches highlighted the characteristic traits of Sardar Vallabhai Patel which is steely resolve, pragmatic and decisive leadership and honesty. The online exhibition on Mr. Patel was presented in all the classes. The slogan-writing and poster-making activities were conducted in the higher classes. The programme was organized by the Innovative Learning Lab, the Holistic Center for Learning, Health and Wellness.

ONE EARTH ONE FUTURE

The youth summit on climate change 'One Earth One Future' was conducted for Assisi MUN members on 2nd November 2022 from 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. The session was blessed by the presence of our young speaker Azaan, a UKG student of Alphadale. Atul Jose Chackiath was the Guest of Honour. Munners gave their speech based on the topic, 'Tackling the extreme climate condition in India with special emphasis on Kerala.' Munners gave a brief description about the cultural, health, educational, and economic aspects of the topic.

INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD 2022

The Mathematics Olympiad for classes I to XII was conducted on 22 November 2022 in the school. 257 students attended the IMO exam. It was conducted in different venues from 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. After the successful completion of the exam, the OMR sheets were sent by courier to the SOF office.

INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD 2022

"You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water". This year Science Olympiad for Classes I to XII was conducted on 3rd November, 2022 in the school. 177 students registered for NSO It was conducted in different venues from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. After the successful completion of the exam, the OMR answer sheets were sent to the SOF office.

CONCOCTION 2022

The Annual School Exhibition, Concoction, was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. George Mathirapilly on Wednesday, 9 November, 2022. A total of 370 students participated in the exhibition. The exhibits belonged to all fields of study such as Science, Social Science, Maths, Information Technology and Robotics. The exhibits comprised 3D and working models, chart designs, computer programmes, still models etc. The students participated enthusiastically and displayed various innovative projects which were reviewed by the teachers as well as students from classes I to XII. Members of faculty and students from 5 member schools of our HUB, as well as parents of the participants, attended the exhibition. “Concoction 2022” unveiled the imagination and creative thinking of students. The school's theme of the year ‘Synergy for Innovation’ was also incorporated into the exhibition.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MERITORIOUS STUDENTS

ASSISI MERIT SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION 2022

The prestigious Assisi Merit Scholarship Examination was conducted on 8 November, 2022 for all the students of I to Class XII. As per the tradition, the exam was based on MCQs, testing the students on three areas such as language conventions, qualitative and quantitative skills. 170 students emerged as 'A' Grade holders and 168 secured 'B' grades. A total amount of Rs 1,72,600/- is given as prize money to the A & B grade holders. 'A' Grade holders were awarded certificates and cash awards on the occasion of the Annual Day celebration of the school on 3 December, 2022. 'B' Grade holders will receive certificates and cash awards as well in the school assembly.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR LATIN CATHOLIC STUDENTS 2022

Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School runs under the aegis of the Archdiocese of Verapoly. Our institution recognizes the meritorious students belonging to the Latin Catholic community by offering the Latin Catholic Scholarship Award. The students are selected based on their academic performances in the previous year. The school acknowledged eleven students this year.
