Bermuda Historical Society Museum

The Bermuda Historical Society Museum (also known as the Mitchell house) was built in 1731. This place is great to visit because it has a bible from 1644, old paintings of famous bermudians around the house and spoons that they used for dining in the 1700's and 1800's. This place also has a news press in the basement that has all the things that people used to make the news. It has a beautiful garden outside with beautiful flowers and a brick path. There's also a small four-poster bed inside for the owner.

Sarah (sally) Bassett was a slave owned by Francis Dickenson of Southampton. On June 1st 1730 she was accused of being a witch because people thought she poisoned many people (including Thomas Forester who owned Sally's granddaughter) with rat poison. She was burned alive on a stick at the roundabout. Local Bermudians say that it was extremely hot when Sally was executed. Now, locals say that when it is really hot, it's a 'Sally Basset day'
