Route
Replace this box with a map shows Vancouver to Newport, then add a drawing tracing the route of our trip.
I’m looking forward to seeing the Wreck of Peter Iredale because I am fascinated by the fact that that ship used to be floating. It also looks so cool wedged in the sand like that. I want to get a photo of this ship so I can get a new background.
I am looking forward to seeing a beaver because they are one of my favourite animals. I like them because they are great builders. I have seen a beaver before but not very clearly so I’m looking forward to seeing one in Oregon.
Oregon Day 1
Travelling South with a stop at Cabela's!
This video is about crossing the border between Oregon and Washington. This bridge crossed the Columbia river and is was 7 km long. I liked this video because it is a time lapse of crossing the bridge and it was cool because the time lapse was pretty long, this shows how long the bridge is. This video was also cool because in the time lapse you can see the change of elevation in the bridge because the big ships need to go under the bridge.
The Astoria Column
The Astoria Column is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a frieze that depicts historical events.
Oregon Day 2
Fort Stevens
Fort Stevens is a place on the northwest coast of Oregon, this place was used as a fort in the Civil War, World War I and World War II. In the Civil War this fort was used for Defending against enemy ships that cross the Columbia River. They defended by using the canon to the left, this canon is called the disappearing canon. It has this name because is pops up in 3 seconds and shoots in 1 second. In this time that this canon would shoot the enemy ship and they would not know where they got shot. This particular canon is a replica of the old canons. This was built by a man that died 3 years ago but his son is going to be finishing this canon this year.
