characteristics
It is the oldest member of the weasel family (Mustelidae), and one of the largest predators in the Amazon forests. Adults reach a length of about 2 meters. River otters are brown in color with a yellowish-white patch on their throat, which is unique to each individual.

Habitat
The giant otter is found exclusively in very remote areas of the center and south of our Amazon
They are classified as carnivorous animals, but their taste for fish, reflected in a high intake of 4 kg per day, makes their diet more piscivorous.

It is almost two meters long and lives only in the rivers and streams of the Amazon, Orinoco and La Plata river systems.

feeding
They are classified as carnivorous animals, but their taste for fish, reflected in a high intake of 4 kg per day, makes their diet more piscivorous.
They hunt during the day and among the species they catch are perch, catfish and even some types of piranha, but when prey is not easy to come by, they turn to other sources of meat such as turtles, crabs and snakes.

cause of extinction
For some decades it was hunted extensively due to the value of its skin, until it was brought to the brink of total extinction. The giant otter currently faces many threats, including habitat loss, habitat degradation (from water pollution), loss of prey base due to overfishing, poaching for its fur, hunting by fishermen who see them as competitors and increased exposure to diseases such as canine distemper.
I would help by campaigning against the felling of trees in those places
