It's autumn. My students and I went out last month to see, hear, smell and touch everything about autumn in our community. Welcome to enjoy the autumn in Erhlin, Taiwan.

Walking in Erhlin

My brother tells me that there is a row of Floss-silk trees near his paddy field.

Every October and November, many tourists will come to take in the beautiful pink world.

    I am a Scarecrow standing on a golden rice paddy in Erhlin, Changhua. I enjoy the autumn here. Follow me and I will show you what I see, smell, hear and feel in this small town.

Next to the peanut farms is a huge pond. Many diligent workers are there. Do you know what they are doing?

They are harvesting clams and clean them. After this, these clams will be put into big bags and sent to the markets. 

The flowers of Taiwan Golden-rain trees are small and yellow, with four petals. Many of them have fallen on the bicycle trail. I enjoy smelling the withered flowers of them. They have a pleasant fragrance and smell like dried apples.

When the Taiwan Golden-rain trees turn reddish or yellowish, I know the autumn is really coming.

When the ears of rice become golden, I know it is autumn. 

Do you see the blanket of green leaves here? It is a peanut farm. 

Here are headworks in Erhlin. They are used to control the river level and offer water to the nearby farms.

He also tells me that the flowers have a flavor of freshly ground black pepper.

It sounds really interesting! I wish that I could go there to smell the cool flavor.
