This book contains some tips and ideas about using sound and speech in combination with art viewing and making. Once you've learned how to use technology apps and tools to do this there is huge potential to use it to engage learners and give them additional ways to be creative when making art.

The BBC Sound Effects Archive is a useful source of sound clips. Each sound clip can be downloaded as a wav or mp3 file or shared using a link, depending on what works best for your purpose.
Finding recorded sounds to use

You can search for sound clips and link to or download them. Sound clips can be favourited so you can easily find the ones you chose. Going further you can create a group of sounds to use together in 'mixer mode' and this group of sounds can be played, shared or downloaded.

It is quite straightforward to record your own sounds on built in or downloaded apps on mobile devices. This allows you or pupils the opportunity to use sounds from your own environment or create your own sounds.

Finding images of art to use: creative commons search

Using a Creative Commons search in Google Images will allow you to find images of art to choose from that can be used in education. When you are in Google Images choose 'Tools' then change 'Usage Rights' to 'Creative Commons' to set this search up.

There are now many sources of images that can be downloaded or linked to use in education or for non-commercial purposes. Many galleries and museums make it clear which images can be used. The links below are useful places to start.

There might also be images that a school has the rights to use because they are part of a published resource to support learning that the school has bought into.
