The FDLT Y2 students in the Leicester group explored the app ChatterPix and the tools of the Book Creator app to make pages using photos, video, text and speech. They used the objects in the room, iPads and apps and their own creativity to make these pages with very little preparation.
It is easy to see how pupils could explore storytelling and story writing using digital technology. As adults we would need to support them by:
- allowing some time to play with the apps to learn how they work
- ensuring the technology they need works
- providing the materials they need to make the scenarios
- designing a structure to allow for a collaborative book to be made (all working on the same page orientation)
- giving time to make the stories and plan the speech
- providing somewhere quiet for the recording of speech
