Drawing together its four founding organisations, we seek to resource our partners with a complete offer of professional development, recognising that the work of our staff is vital to the success of our schools and businesses.

We offer five key areas of work:

Initial Teacher Training - working closely with KMT we offer a number of routes to enter the profession and gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Appropriate Body- Appropriate body services for any Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction
Early Career Framework - Providing new teachers with the support and guidance they need as they begin their teaching career.
National Professional Qualifications - Offering full access to the entire suite of new NPQs in locations across Kent.
Continuing Professional Development - Working in partnership with Leigh Academies Trust to provide a range of professional development opportunities for staff across Kent and Medway

For nearly 30 years, we have been successfully training teachers. Now KMT is one of the largest and most highly regarded teacher training providers in the South East. KMT is structured into five hubs: East Kent, Mid Kent, North Kent & London, West Kent & Sussex, and Primary. Within these hubs we work closely with hundreds of partner schools.We offer placements in urban and semi-rural settings, single-sex and co-educational schools, both wide ability and selective. Throughout the year, the delivery of central-based training has been supported through KMT’s strategic partnerships and expert colleagues across our partner schools.

We offer two main routes, with the opportunity for a Post Graduate Teacher Apprenticeship also available.

Fee-paying

Cost – £7,495
Duration – 1 academic year
Funding – Some subjects give you access to a bursary Chemistry, Computing, Maths, Physics, Biology, Design and Technology, Geography and Languages, Art and Design, Music, English and RE

Employment based

Cost – £7,495 (paid by your employing school)
Duration – 1 academic year
If you already have teaching experience you could be employed by a school as an unqualified teacher and receive full training while you earn.

The Kent and Medway Maths Hub aims to develop students who are confident and successful mathematicians who can use maths in their own lives. Inspired by the creativity and power of mathematics.

Our hub works to provide the best possible professional development for schools in Kent and Medway Local Authorities. The Maths Hub network runs a series of fully funded, nationally coordinated professional development projects for anyone involved in the teaching of maths. The emphasis of these Work Groups is on collaborative, exploratory, evidence-based professional development and research, continuing through an academic year (at least) for substantial professional and systemic change: these are not done too, one-off courses, more an opportunity for school to school support, learning from someone who has tried in their own classroom.

Mathematics is an interconnected subject in which pupils need to be able to move fluently between representations of mathematical ideas. The programmes of study are, by necessity, organised into apparently distinct domains, but pupils should make rich connections across mathematical ideas to develop fluency, mathematical reasoning and competence in solving increasingly sophisticated problems. They should also apply their mathematical knowledge to science and other subjects.

Teaching for mastery is already well advanced in many schools, and it forms a key part of work within the Maths Hubs Programme. With good teaching, appropriate resources, effort and a ‘can do’ attitude all children can achieve in and enjoy mathematics.

highly skilled workforce for our employers, and fantastic opportunities
for our staff.

Opportunities to being your career are available for those aged 16 or over, with a hugh number of opportunities for further training available for those across the educational sector and beyond.

We currently offer pathways in the following areas :

Property Maintenance Operative
Engineering

Our fantastic team of assessors will offer comprehensive training which sits alongside work and work-based learning. Qualifications range between 1-4 years to complete depending on the level and are delivered through a blend of face to face, online and self-directed learning.

To enrol onto an apprenticeship programme, you must:

be aged over 16 at the start of the programme;
have been living in the UK/EU for a minimum of three years before starting your apprenticeship;
not currently be in education;
be able to complete a minimum of 30 hours of work each week.

All applicants will be invited to attend a pre-interview assessment centre prior to being considered for an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships can be accessed by learners of any age, providing support for new and existing members of staff.
