Our&nbsp;EAL Quality Assurance Award&nbsp;is available for schools who would like to evaluate the level of their EAL support. We are continuing to offer our&nbsp;very successful&nbsp;HLS Certificate Course. The HLS Assessing Proficiency Booklet&nbsp;is now available as an excel version, it is easy to use and allows you to track&nbsp;English levels of your EAL pupils. A highly valued service we offer is support for&nbsp;GCSEs exams in pupils’ mother-tongue.&nbsp;Each year, we work with hundreds of EAL pupils who sit these exams. In our latest Specialist NPQ results our delegates achieved 100% pass rate in NPQBC and NPQLTD, and 98% for NPQLTD, congratulations to all of our delegates.&nbsp;&nbsp; We have just completed the Induction process for all NPQ February cohorts and are delighted to be working with clusters run by EKLA, Concordia, Swale Academies Trust and Gravesham Learning Partnership.&nbsp; We are currently awaiting the DfE announcement on future NPQ funding, we will share this information when we have it, but we are committed to continuing to run the full suite of NPQs in locations across Kent. September 2024 will see the first cohort of delegates on the NPQ SENCO - it is really important to stress that whilst this will now be the official SENCO qualification the DfE are encouraging all Senior Leaders to consider this qualification to further support SEN students across schools.

Thank you We want to extend a huge thank you to schools for all they are doing to support our ECT and mentor participants with the ECF in schools, in particular ensuring they are released for their PD events and helping keep them on track with their ECPDP self-study platforms. Block completion deadline - 25th March 2024 The completion date for your ECTs and mentors to complete their block of learning on their ECPDP platforms for this half-term is the 25th March. This is a deadline set nationally and engaging in material is a key part of the ECF that links to school funding, with more details given below.&nbsp; DfE funding for ECF and tracking participants A reminder that DfE funding for ECF is calculated using a matrix that is based on participants' engagement in the self-study platform and attendance to events, both of which are compulsory features of the programme. We have reattached a document for Induction Tutors with details on how to track your school participants internally and detailing what they should have completed. We are aware some schools are being audited by the DfE for their use of additional funding for Early Careers Framework - Time off Timetable and are being asked to supply evidence for each ECT of: <ul><li>expenditure, such as a receipt for classroom cover or a timetable.</li><li>20 hours of mentoring.</li></ul><a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-qdQgJcccgr85WZLzlXxV1D7i14NhKX-UfCxqKG7zJ8/edit" style="color: rgb(17, 85, 204); background-color: transparent;">Induction Tutor and Headteacher tracking document and funding information</a> Year 1 ECT conference 20th March 2024 This is an all day event at Detling, Kent County Showground. Whilst this event is mandatory for ECTs we appreciate there may be last minute absence.&nbsp; If you know your ECT/s cannot attend please could you let us know 48 hours in advance as we have a waiting list for this day and ECTs are grouped by phase with individual packs made for them. Registering new ECTs and mentors For ECTs and mentors to go into the January 2024 cohort for ECF, they must be registered before Thursday 29th February 2024. All ECTs and mentors registered after this date will go into the April 2024 cohort for ECF. The 2024-5 recruitment cycle is in full swing and we have a record number of schools working with us to list places for September. We offer a range of ways to get Qualified Teacher Status - through School Direct, employment based routes, and Assessment Only. Bursaries and Scholarships for 2024-5 The bursaries and scholarships for 2024-5 have been published by the DfE, with additional subjects being offered for this cycle. Bursaries offered for applicants with a 1st, 2:1, 2:2, PhD or master’s: <ul><li>£28,000 in chemistry, computing, mathematics and physics</li><li>£25,000 in biology, design and technology, geography and languages&nbsp;</li><li>£10,000 in art and design, English, music and RE</li></ul> Scholarships: <ul><li>£30,000 in chemistry, computing, mathematics and physics</li><li>£27,000 in French, German and Spanish (no other languages)</li></ul> Post Graduate Teacher Apprenticeships Schools that pay the apprenticeship levy can use up to £9,000 from their apprenticeship service account to cover the cost of training and assessing a Teacher Apprentice. Schools that do not pay the apprenticeship levy or who have insufficient funds in their digital account can access funding to support training and assessment of an apprentice. In these situations, the employer must co-invest 5% of the total Apprentice fee (£450).&nbsp; Schools are required to provide a Teacher Apprentice with a 15-month employment contract and pay them on at least Point 1 of the Unqualified Teacher scale for 12 months until the award of QTS, and then on at least Point 1 of the Main Pay Scale for the remaining 3 months until their End Point Assessment. The NCETM and Maths Hubs are excited to be accepting applications to become one of our&nbsp;Local&nbsp;Leaders in&nbsp;Maths&nbsp;Education. There are 5 programmes on offer designed to develop teachers as experts in Teaching for Mastery and the leadership of professional development.&nbsp;&nbsp; Primary Mastery Specialist &amp; Secondary Mastery Specialist&nbsp;- for those with understanding and experience of Teaching for Mastery in the phase settings and would like to share this with other schools Further Education Mastery Specialist&nbsp;- for those in an FE setting, some understanding of Teaching for Mastery and would like to develop maths opportunities wider within their own college Professional Development Lead&nbsp;- all phases (EYs, to Post-16) and would be interested in leading a Work Group with the Maths Hub.&nbsp;In particular, are you an EYs or KS1 lead who would be interested in facilitating a Mastering Number at KS1 work group next year? Apply to the EYs PD lead and you could learn alongside the co-facilitation. Kent Chemistry Day Date and Time: Saturday 6th&nbsp;July from 9.30am to 3pm Location: University of Greenwich at Medway Campus, Chatham, ME4 Cost: FREE* (*fully funded day) Join us for our very first Kent Chemistry Day. Following on from our successful annual Physics Day here at Kent &amp; Medway SLP are working collaboratively with University of Greenwich and Royal Society of Chemistry Kent Section to bring you a full day of chemistry. All are warmly invited to this full day of training and workshops for all teachers of chemistry (whether specialist or not), ECTs, trainees and technicians. This fully-funded day includes refreshments and lunch. There will be sessions covering key chemistry topics for KS3, KS4 and KS5 with lots of hands-on practical activities and ideas for making your teaching even more engaging, all delivered by expert physics teacher trainers. It's a chance to network with colleagues from across the region and find out about resources available locally. Whilst the programme is primarily designed with teachers in mind, technicians may benefit from the more practical workshops. Remote Subscription for Primary Schools We are delighted to be launching a comprehensive package of Science CPD support to schools across South East. The package can be accessed by your colleagues teaching within the school to support your CPD needs. The National Children’s Bureau is the national delivery partner for the Early Years Stronger Practice Hub programme, working on behalf of the DFE.&nbsp; We are proud to be 1 of 18 hubs across the country.&nbsp; Each Hub is led by a group of school-based, childminder, private and voluntary early years providers across Kent.

Our aim is to: - Establish Local networks of settings and school to share knowledge and effective practice. - Proactively share information and advice on evidence-based approaches through newsletters, blogs and social media. - Act as a point of contact for bespoke advice, and signposting to other funded support - Work with the Education Endowment Foundation to select evidence-base programmes to fund free to schools with Nursery provision attached and other child care settings - Help close the gaps for our disadvantaged children - Support and strengthen pedagogy in Communication and Language and Maths - Through school to school and setting to setting support improve the GLD(Good Level of Development) in the most deprived areas of Kent.

On 23rd&nbsp;February the Primary Music Forum, which usually meets in classrooms, music rooms or staffrooms of schools kind enough to host us, met in the auspicious setting of the crypt of Rochester Cathedral. Once we’d helped ourselves to the usual hot drinks and refreshments, the meeting started with Coral Roberts who directs the Rochester Cathedral Children’s Choir sharing the Cathedral’s outreach programme and how she can support singing in schools. We heard updates on the Arts Council England’s Music Hubs bidding process announcement, the issues around participating in Young Voices, music education funding, Year Six leaver productions to name but a few. The Primary School Concert plans were shared and a date will be announced soon. The meeting concluded with a lovely opportunity to hear the Choristers rehearsing in the quire. The meetings include Primary Music leads and other interested parties from both Kent and Medway.
