I really enjoyed using Beebots during this Digital Learning seminar. My partner Marian and I directed our Beebot where to go and took turns in picking a destination for him on the map!
We directed him to go from the shop to the cinema on the map. We had to count how many steps forward he should take and input the steps into him. We even managed to direct our Beebot into the carpark!
Beebots can definitely be used in teaching the curricular areas of mathematics and literacy. In order for the Beebot to go somewhere, the child has to input how many steps forwards and backwards the Beebot must take. This counting is part of the mathematical curricular. Their language is also being improved by discussing directions. This clearly shows how Beebots can be used in teaching!
