Community Service for the AWA

The Wake Up Cafe is up and running in "Koester's Kitchen" this school year! In addition to traditional favorites, students are creating yogurt and fruit smoothies, brownies, and fruit cups on Thursdays. Menus and prices are listed outside of the kitchen, and orders are taken for the breakfast items until the end of Period 2.

Our first Community
Service initiative is underway! Some of our students will be visiting the
Animal Welfare Association on the 26th and we are collecting items
for them to bring.  If you would like to donate, boxes are located outside
my office, and in a couple places throughout the building.

Staff and students worked together on October 3rd, 2023 tp decorate the entrance to our building to welcome parents to our Back to School Luncheon and Open House on October 4th. Students planted mums, and used pumpkins and gords, while writing messages to parents with sidewalk chalk. Students and staff members worked together on this project as a part of their Respect Week activities.

On Friday, November 3, students went on a field trip to Johnson's Farm to explore farm related careers
and to learn about growing food. They participated in a lesson about farm work and food use, then road on a tractor into the fields. Students got to pick popping corn and ginormous sweet potatoes. They returned to the barn to feed goats and cows. They enjoyed lunch, pies, honey, and apple cider donuts from the farm market. Students will cook sweet potato casserole, baked sweet potato fries, and make popcorn.
