Amazon Rainforest Handbook

Finding your way around the Amazon Rainforest is tricky without any help as it is so huge. You can always ask some other's for help, but if you are planning on going alone, here are some tips!

The stars can be helpful at night as well! Search for the North and South star and let them guide you. This trick is used most of the time for the ocean, but who says we can't use it for the rainforest?

The sky can really help when you want to find your way around. In the day, you can use the sun and the stars at night!

This sort of brings us back to 'What to Take' (Pages 4- 5). You should always bring a compass. It'll help if you are going somewhere specific! It always points North!

The sun can help because it always rises in the East and sets in the West, did you know that? Use this to help when it's sunny!

A map can help too! If you can find a map of the rainforest, or just a specific area in it, it can help if you mark where you're going and where you've been!

Make sure to remember your North, South, East and West! To help remember, here is something to help remember! Never Ever Suck Waffles. This is in the order the directions go on a compass.

When you're deciding what to take to the Amazon Rainforest, things might get a little complicated! You'll need lots of things to stay prepared, but these pages will just tell you the basics!

When it's dark, or you're spelunking in a cave, you'll only really need, these items! 

- Torch or flashlight - Spelunking gear - Goggles

When it's scorching hot, just use the following and stay in the shade!

When it's raining, (which will happen often) you'll need some specific items! Here are the important ones!

- Sunscreen - Cold Water - A hand fan

- Umbrella - Umbrella bag - Glasses or goggles

When you're lost and are not sure where to go, just be careful and use these! 

There are lots of dangers in the Amazon! When I say lots, I mean, lots! Don't worry, there is always a way to survive these dangers! These pages will give you some advice!

We don't want to hurt Earth's precious creatures now, do we? Let's distract them, instead! To distract the animals, dress like something they'll not like! Take a snake for example. Their worst enemy is a mongoose!

You can do some research for some dangerous animal's worst enemies! 

Almost every animal or insect wants you see wants to kill you! For example, pink river dolphins may be cute, but they are very strong attackers! Get ready to fight back!

A strong shelter is the first step to getting away from predators. Make sure to camouflage with your surroundings so it is harder for the animal to find you. Cover it with leaves and vines so it can blend in!

Of course, the weather! It has to be a huge one! Downfalls of rain can be very strong and very cold. The main thing you'll need is still, shelter.

A string shelter is a must. A tent is a is the best thing, especially to stay away from the fierce heat. You'll need to stay cool, as temperatures can reach up to 30 to 40 degrees!  

Camouflage- when an animal changes their appearance to blend in Mongoose- a small, meerkat- like creature that snakes fear Rainforest- a large, humid area of trees and animals Ripe- when a fruit is ready to eat Spelunking- the exploration of caves Unripe- when a fruit is not ready to eat!

Finding food and shelter is the key to the door of survival. You need a tough shelter from the weather or anything that want's to kill you. You also need to find out what sort of food you can eat or whatnot! Read this fir some tips!

There are many ways to find food in the Amazon! Firstly, you might need a fishing rod. You can catch fish in the long river, just make sure it's not dangerous! After you catch it, you can cook it on a fire!

To find shelter, it can be tricky as you won't know if something or someone is living in it already. That's why it's best to make or take your own.

You should bring a strong tent, one that won't fall down in bad weather. Make sure to close it if you're going somewhere!

Secondly, you can pick fruit off trees, but you have to make sure they are ripe, as some of them could be poisonous or bad for you! Here is an of a ripe and unripe fruit!

To make your own, you'll need strong sticks to dig in to the ground. You'll then place another stick on to and place  leaves on the to make a roof.

When deciding what to wear to the Amazon, it can be a bit tricky because you have to be prepared for lots of occasions! Hold tight, there's a few to get through!

Besides when it's raining, it's always hot in the Amazon. You won't need any specific clothes, but here are some ones that will work!

It's unlikely it'll be cold in the rainforest, but you have to be prepared! Here are some ideas!

- Shorts - T- Shirt - Small shoes or sandals - Sunhat - Jacket

- A thick coat - Thick pants - Big boots - Gloves
