Every country has its own holidays and traditions. There are many interesting and important holidays in the UK. Let’s learn about them.
Christmas
The British celebrate it on the 25th of December. People buy Christmas trees and decorate them with toys, coloured balls and beautiful lights. On Christmas night Santa Claus flies in his sleigh and brings presents to good children.
NEW YEAR EVE
On the 31st of December many English people go to Trafalgar Square to see the Christmas tree and to celebrate New Year. When Big Ben strikes twelve, they say: “Happy New Year!” and watch fireworks.
St.Valentine’s
St.Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the UK on the 14th of February. It is a romantic holiday. People get greeting cards from “Secret Valentines” with the words of love.
Easter
Easter is a spring festival. The date changes every year. Painted eggs, hot cross buns and chickens are the symbols of Easter in Britain. Children eat a lot of chocolate eggs and bunnies on Easter morning.
