Basic Plot Summary
The story is set in England, in Willington, and tells of Mr. Jones and his farm. He is always drunk and mistreats animals and does not take care of them. The Old Major, the pig most respected for his intelligence, one evening gathers all the animals on the farm, and tells them a dream he had the night before. All animals are equal and the only enemy is man who take advantage of other animals. A revolution is needed. But he dies, and so two young pigs take his place: Snowball Napoleon and Clarinet. The three then write the 7 commandments and chase Mr. Jones off the farm. The most important commandment is: all animals are equal. At first everything seems to be fine, the animals work and their conditions improve, but then the pigs, being more intelligent, begin to have more power by being able to hunt again Mr. Jones who had tried to return to his farm. The clashes between Snowball and Napoleon grow stronger, until Snowball is driven out. Now it is Napoleon who holds all the power, what was supposed to be a republic has become a dictatorship. And when pigs start walking on two legs like humans, the 7 commandments disappear and are replaced by:" all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." There is now no difference between humans and animals.

Our Praise and Critique
We liked this book a lot because being written like a fairy tale, it is easy to read and understand. But it made us think about how much men love power and how often dreams of a better world collide with it. It is a very interesting book and to be read at least once in a lifetime.
Recommendation
The book reflects on the events leading up to the Russian Revolution and later to the Stalinist era of the Sovietic Union. The author, a democratic socialist, was critical of Stalin and hostile to Stalinism, the author described Animal Farm as a satirical narrative against Stalin.
