The Bulgarian story of the participation in the EHM Project

The Bulgarian team of teachers enrolled a course at the French Cultural Institute about `Teaching through Cinema`. We were enthusiastic to put into practice the newly acquired theoretical knoweledge.

Music, sings, national dances, cultural and historical heritage contributed to creating an athmosphere of tolerance and belonging to the European Union though having different languages, religion and skin colour.

The project continued with a lot of school activities before another meeting in France from 3rd June to 7th 2019. The participants got together again and exchanged ideas and good practices for applying films into studying and broadening our horizons in different spheres of knowledge.

The long-awaited student workshop took place in Narni, Italy from 17th to 22nd November 2019. For several days students from Bulgaria, Greece, France, Italy and Spain discussed the European values, the national identity and the cultural diversity. They shot short videos, made posters, wrote songs and found great friends.

The participants in the project were interviewed by the chairman of the school council about their reflections, emotions and experience during the working process. The interview was shared on the school website and the facebook page.

The school jury evaluated the three short films following the criteria and contest rules. The titles of the films are "Under the yoke","Tilt" and "Time of Violence" representing Bulgarian history. All students involved in shooting the films gained various skills and enjoyed the experience immensely.

The next meeting took place in Greece at Platon School, Athens. From the 12th to 16th March 2019 we were introduced to the variety of cinematographic techniques and implemented some interesting ideas on the spot.

Project contest rules were introduced to the students and teachers. All participants visited Cinecitta, the world famous film studio in Rome and got inspired by the talented film producers and intriguing scripts.

In spite of the pandemic of Covid-19 which changed our lives, we still continued to work on the EHM project virtually and face to face. The students split into three groups and selected the films, distributed the roles and tasks, wrote the scripts and did their best to complete the final outputs.

After the approval of the project followed the exciting kick-off meeting in the municipality of Narni held in November 14th to 16th 2018, where the partners from Greece, France, Italy, Spain and Bulgaria faced up the challenge of exploring European and national values, history and cinema in education.

Due to EHM project we became more united in diversity, caring about human rights, history, films and will keep our vivid memories about Erasmus+ experience.
