Human rights are the inextricable and inalienable fundamental rights and freedoms inherent in every individual, regardless of race, gender, religion, language or other status. The basic principles include the right to life, liberty, equality and justice.<br/><br/>

The idea of human rights has ancient roots, but modern standards emerged after World War II. Important points include the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent international conventions aimed at protecting and promoting these rights.
