How Do Rocks Form, Though?
Igneous Rock
Rocks are made by the magma in the mantle shooting up onto the surface or stopping in the outer layer. The magma is the reason why rocks are made. The magma makes the rock, so either old rock and new rock can be compressed together to make a new layer of rock, the cooled magma can be a new layer of rock, or the heat and pressure from within Earth's outer layer can make a new layer of rock.
Igneous rocks are made by the magma from the mantle rising up onto the surface or stopping just a bit below the outer layer. To make rhyolite, magma shoots up from the mantle and makes a volcano. That volcano is made out of rhyolite. To make granite, volcanoes erupt and send lava down its body. That lava cools down slowly while mixing with other minerals, and soon, it would harden and make granite with various other minerals in it. Granite is found in continental plates. To make gabbro, magma gets trapped beneath the surface and cools into a hard, coarsely crystalline mass.
