There were two battles of Saratoga, the first battle was the battle of Freeman's Farm. This battle took place on September 19, 1777, on the farmland of British loyalist John freeman.

The main general for the British was General John Burgoyne, and he had a pretty funny nickname it was " Gentleman Johnny".

The second battle was the battle of Bemis Heights there the Americans set up their defenses and were ready for the British to attack. This attack did not end well and the Americans beat the British.

Battle Strategies
The main battle strategy used by the Americans is called Guerilla warfare. This strategy is more hit and run than face him and shoot. The Americans would hide behind bushes, in trees, and behind rocks. After they were in their hiding spots they would shoot and then hide again.

The main tactic that the British used was face to face fighting. This tactic involves getting in front of the opponents army and just shooting. It is not a difficult tactic it is pretty straight forward. There is one downside of this tactic when you are not on even ground it is harder to shoot and aim.

Significance
This battle was very important. It is the first battle the Americans won. It was also the turning point in the revolution, it motivated the Americans. This also made the French decide to team up with the Americans.

Were slaves involved
During this battle conditions were harsh. Trying to escape north was near impossible. It was extremely cold, also there was hard rain which was so hard it forced you to stop. Another thing that made conditions hard was how food was scarce.

The Americans Were the victors of the Battle of Saratoga, this was actually the first battle the Americans won.
Were slaves involved
Slaves fought in the Battle of Saratoga. But it was not like the whole army were slave only about 25% of people were African slaves.
