A collection of prayers, Bible verses and excerpts of personal reflections from our community at Door of Hope Christian Church throughout the 40 Days of Prayer journey together in 2023. They are not outcomes or views necessarily held by the Leadership of Door of Hope Christian Church; however, they are made available to encourage you and to give perspective and insight into how God is currently speaking into our community throughout this season.

Pray Always

Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV)
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

Note from Prayer Facilitator - When Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days, the enemy came to tempt Him. So we prayed protection over the congregation as we go into prayer for 40 days.

...and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The 40 days is beginning something much bigger than just 40 days- it establishes PRAYER as our number one value at DOHCC.

The 40 days is creating a good habit- we don’t have all the answers or “fix its” but we do have prayer.

Our prayer is that we would not be limited in the process of seeking a Senior Minister; open to something that doesn’t limit us.

We move in God’s timing in appointing a new Senior Minister.

Engaging our digital community-in pre-service prayer on Sundays.

Embracing the diversity of our community and those who will come into our community, seeing each person as an image bearer of God and embracing unity.

I have called you by name, we are KNOWN by God

Isaiah 43:18-21 (NIV)
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.

Unity of vision and passion
A word: ‘reset’
A sense of excitement that others would see Godly unity, that draws people into His community.

God’s leading for a new Senior Minister
‘into your hands’ - Wait and trust were repeated words of instruction.

Prayer time whilst out walking in God’s beautiful creation

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Be humble, keep praying and He will not let us down,
He will provide not only the answers to these three questions, but provide us with so much more.

You are the Living Water, and you are the Bread of Life - you are everything we need.

Jesus - you already know who the Senior Minister will be.

You have set the direction - and it is good.

I pray for the momentum of these times of prayer, that there will be so many people joining in prayer, we would have to use the chat to put all the prayers in.

On a walk this morning… we are just starting on this journey Together. The 40 days stretches out before us and who knows what God will say on the way. Really glad to walk this road together.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.

To let the Holy Spirit take control and for unity in decision making, and for all generations to be united at Door of Hope.

That God will surprise us.

For healing of the hurting and peace for us all.

For protection for the Elders and clear guidance for them and all involved in this 40 days of prayer and for our church congregation to have open minds and hearts.

For God to give us inner strength and perseverance as He prepares our hearts and minds for the future. For protection for the person who will be the new Senior Minister, who is being prepared by You for the role.

Becoming the church you want us to become.
Vulnerable as we seek you in helping us reach the vulnerable.

Thank you for your wisdom and guidance and
revealing your Word to us in this moment.
