Promote Literacy across learning.
Link Languages across the curriculum through cross-curricular short tasks and longer projects.
Facilitate transitions from one class to another, one level to another and from primary to secondary.
Connect learners and share work through innovative use of technology.
Celebrate learning and give learners a chance to showcase their work, give feedback & develop next steps in their learning journey.
Task
Task: Create & share a presentation in any format about a global issue.
Curricular Areas - Literacy, Languages, Technology, HWB & Expressive Arts
L2/3: I can use and/or understand language I am learning & learn some vocabulary linked to a global issue.
HWB: I am confident to present my ideas to the class and/or can contribute to group work.
Literacy: I can share key ideas & give some more detailed information.
Technology: I can use digital technology to share my work.
Where do I start?
1) Click on the image to take a look at different activities linked to learning for sustainability & languages. Or take a look at the e-book to focus more on the animation Migrants.
2) Complete an activity. Feel free to also do some further research linked to the activity in English and/or the language you are learning.
What's next?
3) Think about how you want to present & share what you have done with others. You could create a short text (verbal/written) with key words, phrases or sentences with visuals (drawings, photos, video etc). Or you might choose another medium - eg. photos, a song or a video!
4) Decide what (if any) digital technology would enhance your presentation or help share it with others (eg. WordArt, Canva or Adobespark). Think about the language, purpose & format of your presentation and your audience.
5) Discuss what makes a good presentation & come up with criteria. Encourage learners to peer and self assess as they share their work. Focus on feedback linked to the criteria & next steps eg. 2 stars and a wish
Examples
All ideas can be adapted to different languages, any stage, a wide variety of global issues and activities. Here are just a few examples.
