1st chapter - country, place and school presentations

COUNTRY:
Brela is a small but world-known tourist resort situated in Crioatia, on the middle Adriatic coast, in the coastal part called Makarska Riviera. There are 6 kilometres of natural pebble beaches, as well as the thick pine tree forest (in large part a natural monument). There are also many walking paths which entangle from the walking area along the coast to the old groups of the stone houses, where we can find the genuine examples of the old Dalmatian architecture, and to the peaks of the mountain Biokovo.

Because of its natural and cultural heritage Brela has an important part in the tourism of the region Makarska riviera. We are known for accommodation and hospitality of our residents, old Dalmatian cuisine, wines, song, and amusement.
Brela municipality consists of two places:
a) Brela Gornja (Upper Brela), situated in the hinterland of the mountain Biokovo (it is interesting that almost the whole settlement is situated inside the Nature Park Biokovo)
b) the settlement Brela, which is on the coast.
The Brela Stone is the symbol of Brela and it is a part of the beautiful pebble beach Punta Rata. There are numerous legends about how this stone ended up in the sea. Today this stone is one of the recognizable symbols of Croatian tourism.
We are also proud of so-called Napoleon Road.
The road was being built during the period 1810-1811.Local people were involved and obliged to work for the road’s construction process and were paid in food. Unfortunately, due to the withdrawal of the French military forces, this part of the road remained unfinished. The view from there is wonderful.
Legends are being told of the sunken Pelegrin town from generation to generation as well as the one about Bride's Rock close to the Napoleon Road and the ones about Brela Stone.
