My Beebot Journey

Pink polka dot pattern

We experimented with the buttons on the beebot understanding what each button does. The arrows made the beebot go in the direction selected. The beebot can go forward, backwards, left and right. The green button made the beebot go and move.

We created our own notation using emojis and numbers to carry out our sequence. This approach work affectively and can be used in different ways.

Notational cards allowed us to visually see the sequence.

Beebots can aid children in their learning by teaching them different directions such as left and right. It can mathematically help them with their problem solving skills for example how to get the Beebot from point A to point B. It aids children with their counting skills. They have to remember and count out loud how many times they press a directional button on the beebot. It can help children's literacy as they have to use directional language

Beebots can be used in the primary school curriculum in various subjects such as English, Geography and Mathematics. In English the childrens story telling and narrative will devleop. Beebots can be used in Geography to explain mapping. In Maths Beebots can be used to help children with their number, adding and sequencing skills.

By children using Beebots this will help them develop their visualisation, directionality, communication, socialisation, sharing, turn taking and instructional skills. For teachers there would need to be adequate classroom organisation management in place to use the Beebots effectively. They would need to have sufficient space to group the children using the Beebots. Routines would need to be in place and organising materials would need to be carefully planned out.
