All Things Are Made of Carbon

When carbon mixes with other elements such as oxygen, they create compounds that work within the environment to move alone environmental processes such as carbon dioxide (carbon and oxygen) and the process of photosynthesis
Photosynthesis vs. Cellular Respiration
Photosynthesis:
- requires energy from the sun to produce food
- CO2 is taken in and 02 is given off
- light is needed

Cellular Respiration:
- food is broken down to create energy
- O2 is taken in and CO2 and H2O are given off
- no light needed

Comic Panel 1
Carbon dioxide molecules floating in the atmosphere
Carbon Dioxide is diffused from the lithosphere (the crust and the upper mantle) and stored in 'carbon sinks' like forests, limestone, coal deposits, etc.
We as humans are part of the carbon cycle
We breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide through cellular respiration

Animals in the Carbon Cycle
Comic Panel 1
Comic Panel 1
All animals eventually die, from the smallest little bug to the biggest of mammals.
The dead organisms are then eaten by decomposers. Some examples of decomposers include mushrooms, worms, bacteria, and fungi.

The carbon in the decomposers' bodies is then returned to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide
